In this issue of EdUHK PhDiaries, 𝗠𝘀 𝗘𝘂𝗻𝗶𝗰𝗲 𝗖𝗼𝗻𝘁𝗿𝗲𝗿𝗮𝘀, PhD candidate and Hong Kong PhD Fellowship Scheme (HKPFS) Awardee (2023-24), reflects on her enriching three-month research attachment at Tampere University, Finland, supported by the Graduate School's Research Students' Attachment Scheme.

Eunice's research focuses on teacher professional ethics, moral education, and teacher identity. During her attachment, she worked closely with Dr Elina Kuusisto, a leading scholar in teacher professional ethics whose expertise closely aligns with Eunice's doctoral research on Filipino teachers as ethical professionals.

"𝘛𝘩𝘦 𝘢𝘵𝘵𝘢𝘤𝘩𝘮𝘦𝘯𝘵 𝘣𝘳𝘰𝘢𝘥𝘦𝘯𝘦𝘥 𝘮𝘺 𝘢𝘤𝘢𝘥𝘦𝘮𝘪𝘤 𝘩𝘰𝘳𝘪𝘻𝘰𝘯𝘴 𝘢𝘯𝘥 𝘢𝘭𝘭𝘰𝘸𝘦𝘥 𝘮𝘦 𝘵𝘰 𝘦𝘯𝘨𝘢𝘨𝘦 𝘪𝘯 𝘮𝘦𝘢𝘯𝘪𝘯𝘨𝘧𝘶𝘭 𝘳𝘦𝘴𝘦𝘢𝘳𝘤𝘩 𝘥𝘪𝘴𝘤𝘶𝘴𝘴𝘪𝘰𝘯𝘴 𝘵𝘩𝘢𝘵 𝘴𝘵𝘳𝘦𝘯𝘨𝘵𝘩𝘦𝘯𝘦𝘥 𝘣𝘰𝘵𝘩 𝘮𝘺 𝘸𝘰𝘳𝘬 𝘢𝘯𝘥 𝘮𝘺 𝘥𝘦𝘷𝘦𝘭𝘰𝘱𝘮𝘦𝘯𝘵 𝘢𝘴 𝘢 𝘧𝘶𝘵𝘶𝘳𝘦 𝘦𝘥𝘶𝘤𝘢𝘵𝘰𝘳 𝘢𝘯𝘥 𝘳𝘦𝘴𝘦𝘢𝘳𝘤𝘩𝘦𝘳."

Eunice participated in a wide range of academic and professional activities, including:
● Co-teaching an Erasmus+ course
● Presenting research at doctoral seminars at Tampere University
● Attending and presenting at international conferences, including AERA 2026
● Collaborating on journal articles with international scholars
● Building research networks with academics across Europe and beyond

Beyond her academic achievements, Eunice also embraced the cultural experience of living in Finland. These experiences deepened her appreciation of different educational and cultural contexts while enriching her personal growth.

Supported by the Graduate School, Eunice's attachment strengthened her research capabilities, expanded her international professional network, and contributed significantly to her ongoing doctoral journey. She looks forward to applying the insights gained from the experience to her future research and academic career.

The Graduate School at The Education University of Hong Kong (EdUHK) recently hosted its Master of Education (MEd) orientation, welcoming over 700 new students across three dedicated sessions tailored to their areas of focus.

During the event, students shared their initial impressions of the campus and explored key learning opportunities. Interactions highlighted a strong interest in the Overseas Learning Experience Programme (OLEP) and local Hong Kong internships.

The MEd programme launched a "𝗪𝗶𝘀𝗵 𝗣𝗼𝘀𝘁𝗰𝗮𝗿𝗱 𝗧𝗶𝗺𝗲 𝗖𝗮𝗽𝘀𝘂𝗹𝗲📮" activity, inviting students to articulate their expectations for the year ahead. Beyond simply capturing their aspirations, this meaningful session encourages students to reflect on their growth and find greater purpose in their studies.🎓

The Graduate School wishes all new students a rewarding and transformative academic year.🥳
