🇩🇪 BSc (Hons) in General Nursing students and lecturers from our St Angela’s campus recently participated in an exciting Erasmus+ Blended Intensive Programme (BIP) at Frankfurt University of Applied Sciences, Germany.

Lecturers Dr Dympna Walsh Gallagher and Siobhán O’Dowd accompanied Year 3 nursing students as they collaborated with university partners from Portugal, Czechia, Belgium, Germany and the USA on the programme, “Be the Change – Advancing Urban Sustainability and Health in Metropolitan Regions" 🌎

Throughout the week, participants engaged in lectures and workshops, visited a large urban garden, took part in a one-and-a-half-day disaster planning workshop, and enjoyed a range of cultural experiences and local cuisine. The programme provided valuable insights into urban sustainability and its impact on health and wellbeing 👏

As part of the programme, Siobhán O’Dowd delivered a lecture on Health-Led Approaches to Homelessness, sharing expertise and encouraging international discussion on this important topic 🤩

It was a fantastic educational experience, offering students the opportunity to broaden their perspectives, develop international connections and gain a deeper understanding of global health challenges 🎉

ATU hosted a Stakeholder Dinner in the YADA Building on the Sligo campus, bringing together representatives from Sligo County Council, Sligo Chamber, local organisations and businesses to discuss regional development, collaboration, enterprise and innovation.

The event focused on how ATU can continue to support and work with the region through strong partnerships and shared ambitions for the future.
Among those attending were Councillor Dónal Gilroy, Cathaoirleach of Sligo County Council, Minister Frankie Feighan TD, Martin Kenny TD, Ann Butler, President of Sligo Chamber, and members of Sligo County Council.

Guests also visited the YADA Creative Showcase, featuring student art and design work from across ATU.

🏊‍♂️ Huge congratulations to ATU Sports Scholar, Aengus Flanagan, on his outstanding success at the Connacht Senior Long Course Championships 2026, held at the National Aquatic Centre in Dublin.

Aengus delivered a brilliant performance, claiming:
🥇 Gold in the 50m Butterfly
🥇 Gold in the 100m Freestyle
🥇 Gold in the 100m Butterfly
🥈 Silver as part of the 4 x 100m Freestyle Relay Team
🥉 Bronze as part of the 4 x 100m Mixed Medley Relay Team

Aengus, who is a member of County Sligo Swimming Club, is currently studying the BBus (Hons) in Sport with Business at ATU's Sligo campus and is a past pupil of Coláiste Cholmcille, Ballyshannon 👏

Year 3 General Nursing students at our St Angela's Campus took part in a dedicated Wellness Day delivered in collaboration with Abode Wellness.
The event focused on self-care, resilience and wellbeing, giving students the opportunity to engage in activities including yoga, pilates, breathwork, guided visualisation and reflective journaling. As future healthcare professionals, developing healthy coping strategies and resilience is an important part of nursing education. The day encouraged students to pause, reflect, and prioritise their own wellbeing as they prepare for rewarding and demanding careers in healthcare.

✨ Home Economics Artisan Enterprise Showcase✨
BA (Hons) in Home Economics students recently hosted their Artisan Enterprise event on campus at ATU St Angelas where they showcased a unique display of social and commercial toolkits and products in the areas of craft, food, health and wellbeing.
💚This year’s showcase included starter kits for mothers, worry friends for kids, memories multiplied, food packages to support women’s menstrual phases, healthy acai bowls, smoothie bombs, Stride and snack and a pet bakery.
