🌍 A new semester, new connections and a world of possibilities — welcome to SGH!

Orientation Week marks the start of the winter semester of the 2026/2027 academic year at SGH Warsaw School of Economics. We are delighted to welcome more than 300 international students joining us from universities in 32 countries around the world! 🎓

Our incoming exchange students are joining us through Erasmus+, bilateral exchange agreements, our CIVICA university alliance and double degree programmes.

From Canada and the Dominican Republic to Japan and New Zealand, from universities across Europe to China, India, Indonesia, Singapore, South Korea, Taiwan and beyond – our incoming students bring diverse perspectives and experiences to the SGH community.

Orientation Week is an opportunity to get to know SGH, meet fellow students and begin settling into life in Warsaw. It is also the first step towards a semester full of learning, cultural exchange and friendships across borders.

🌏 Two degrees and two years of study in Beijing? Discover the “Future Leaders” Double Degree Programme!

SGH students can apply to study at Peking University’s Guanghua School of Management. After completing two years at their home university, participants spend the next two years studying in Beijing alongside students from around the world. Those who meet the requirements of both universities receive two bachelor’s degrees.

🎓 Admitted students receive a scholarship covering tuition at Peking University, on-campus accommodation and a monthly stipend. The next cohort is expected to begin classes in Beijing in September 2027.

🩵 Big news for CIVICA!

We are thrilled to announce that CIVICA has been awarded an Erasmus+ grant under the competitive 2026 call!

This funding secures two further years for our alliance, allowing us to expand our activities and build on six years of collaboration across our ten member institutions: Università Bocconi, Central European University, IE University, European University Institute, Hertie School, The London School of Economics and Political Science (LSE), SGH Warsaw School of Economics, Stockholm School of Economics, Sciences Po, Scoala Nationala de Studii Politice si Administrative (SNSPA).

We are grateful to the European Commission for their renewed confidence and to our partners for their dedication to building a transformative force in higher education.

Together, we will continue providing the next generation with the critical skills needed to meet the world's most complex challenges. 💪

Can learning happen while having an amazing time? Can European values be shared in a way that is engaging, accessible, and easy to experience? Absolutely! 🌍✨

From 24–27 June, around 180 students and staff members from all member universities gathered for CIVICA CONNECT: Sport, Culture and Inclusiveness Festival, held in the beautiful Mazury Lake District at the AZS Wilkasy Sports Centre.

The festival offered a rich and diverse programme, including:
🤝 Inclusiveness in Sport training delivered by experts from the Scientific Council of the Polish Paralympic Committee
⛵ Sailing regatta
🚢 A scenic lake cruise
🎨 A ceramic painting workshop
🚴 A cycling trip to the historic Boyen Fortress, where participants explored the region's fascinating heritage
🏀 A wide range of sports activities, including 3x3 basketball, kayaking, beach volleyball, tennis, pedal boating, boccia, goalball, stand-up paddleboarding (SUP), and many more.

Throughout the festival, students and staff from across the CIVICA Alliance had the opportunity to meet new people, build lasting connections, collaborate in multicultural teams, and put the principles of fair play into practice.

A particularly important part of the programme was the Inclusiveness Training, dedicated to promoting the participation of people with disabilities in sport. Led by outstanding instructors from the Scientific Council of the Polski Komitet Paralimpijski, the training combined expert knowledge with hands-on experience. Participants had the opportunity to try goalball, karate, wheelchair sports, learn how to overcome architectural barriers, and take part in many other practical activities that deepened their understanding of accessibility and inclusion.

The festival was one of the accompanying events celebrating the 120th anniversary of SGH Warsaw School of Economics. We were honoured by the presence of Rector Prof. Piotr Wachowiak and Vice-Rector for International Relations Prof. Jacek Prokop, and we sincerely thank them for joining and supporting our initiative.

Last but certainly not least, we would like to extend our heartfelt thanks to all the participants for being part of CIVICA CONNECT (coming from: Università Bocconi, Central European University, European University Institute, IE University, Hertie School, The London School of Economics and Political Science - LSE, Sciences Po, Stockholm School of Economics, Școala Națională de Studii Politice și Administrative - SNSPA and SGH Warsaw School of Economics . Your enthusiasm, openness, and positive energy made this event truly special. 🎓🌍 CIVICA Honours Seminar ponownie w SGH Warsaw School of Economics!

Trudno uwierzyć, że minął już rok – a my ponownie mamy przyjemność gościć uczestników Honours Seminar w Warszawie.

Serdecznie witamy studentów kursu „New Era of Europe”, prowadzonego przez prof. Elizę Przeździecką, którzy przyjechali do SGH z naszych uczelni partnerskich w sojuszu CIVICA: CEU, SSE i SNSPA, a także studentów SGH.

W tym roku do programu dołączyły również studentki z ukraińskich uczelni współpracujących z CIVICA: NaUKMA, KSE i KNEU, co nadaje seminarium jeszcze bardziej międzynarodowy wymiar.

Przed uczestnikami tydzień pełen inspirujących dyskusji, wymiany doświadczeń, nowych znajomości i wspólnego odkrywania wyzwań stojących przed Europą.

It is hard to believe that a whole year has passed, and once again we are delighted to welcome participants of the CIVICA Honours Seminar to Warsaw.

A warm welcome to the students of the “New Era of Europe” course, led by Professor Eliza Przeździecka, joining us from our CIVICA partner universities: Central European University, Stockholm School of Economics and Școala Națională de Studii Politice și Administrative - SNSPA, as well as from SGH Warsaw School of Economics.

This year, we are also pleased to welcome students from CIVICA’s partner universities in Ukraine: Національний університет "Києво-Могилянська академія", Kyiv School of Economics and Київський національний економічний університет імені Вадима Гетьмана, making the seminar even more international and diverse.

📚 Za nami spotkanie Library Directors Group w SGH!

📍 W dniach 26–27 maja 2026 r. Szkoła Główna Handlowa w Warszawie miała przyjemność gościć dyrektorów bibliotek uczelni partnerskich sojuszu .

Podczas spotkania rozmawialiśmy m.in. o rozwoju programu CIVICA 2+, zarządzaniu bibliotekami akademickimi, otwartej nauce i otwartej edukacji oraz o roli sztucznej inteligencji w usługach bibliotecznych.

Program obejmował również wizytę w Bibliotece SGH, warsztaty oraz inspirujące rozmowy o przyszłych wspólnych inicjatywach.

Dziękujemy wszystkim uczestnikom za aktywny udział, wymianę doświadczeń i inspirujące dyskusje. Do zobaczenia na kolejnych wydarzeniach CIVICA!

📚 The Library Directors Group meeting at SGH is now behind us!

📍 On 26–27 May 2026, the SGH Warsaw School of Economics hosted directors of libraries from CIVICA partner universities.

The programme included discussions on the development of the CIVICA 2+ phase, academic library management, open science, open education, and the role of artificial intelligence in library services.

The event also featured a visit to the SGH Library, workshops, and inspiring conversations about future joint initiatives.

We thank all participants for their active engagement, exchange of experiences, and inspiring discussions. We look forward to seeing you at future CIVICA events!

🎉 Tegoroczny CIVICA Day w SGH Warsaw School of Economics odbył się pod hasłem „CIVICA Connect: Sport, Culture and Inclusiveness Festival” – i zdecydowanie nie brakowało energii, integracji oraz dobrej zabawy! 💙

Podczas wydarzenia promowaliśmy inicjatywy dostępne dla studentów i pracowników w ramach sojuszu oraz zbliżający się wielkimi krokami festiwal .

Było aktywnie i praktycznie – uczyliśmy się gry w boccia 🎯 oraz wiązania węzłów żeglarskich ⛵, żeby dobrze przygotować się do nadchodzących regat na Mazurach!

Tegoroczny CIVICA Connect będzie organizowany dla społeczności sojuszu CIVICA dzięki środkom pozyskanym przez SGH w ramach programu NAWA Narodowa Agencja Wymiany Akademickiej „Wsparcie Uniwersytetów Europejskich”, w projekcie „CIVICA 4All: Inkluzywność, Dostępność i Aktywność w Uniwersytetach Europejskich”.

🎉 This year’s CIVICA Day at SGH took place under the theme “CIVICA Connect: Sport, Culture and Inclusiveness Festival” – and it was full of energy, integration, and great fun! 💙

During the event, we promoted opportunities available for students and staff within the CIVICA alliance as well as the upcoming CIVICA Connect festival.

We also got hands-on experience learning boccia 🎯 and practising sailing knots ⛵ to get ready for the sailing regatta in the Masurian Lakes!

This year’s CIVICA Connect will be organized for the CIVICA alliance community thanks to funding obtained by SGH under the NAWA programme “Support for European Universities”, within the project “CIVICA 4All: Inclusiveness, Accessibility and Activity at European Universities”.
