⌛ Minęło już 10 lat od kiedy pisaliśmy:

🤍"Gdy na początku kwietnia Centrum Archeologii Śródziemnomorskiej UW organizowało wystawę 🔸W cieniu wojny. Zabytki Syrii i Iraku w badaniach Centrum Archeologii Śródziemnomorskiej UW🔸 i towarzyszącą jej konferencję miała ona opowiadać o przeszłości — o przerwanych w 2011 roku badaniach w Syrii. Tymczasem odbicie 🔸Palmyry🔸 przez syryjskie siły rządowe z rąk tzw. Państwa Islamskiego zupełnie zmieniło sytuację.

Goście konferencji, przedstawiciele Generalnej Dyrekcji Starożytności i Muzeów Syrii dysponowali już wstępnymi informacjami o obecnym stanie zabytków Palmyry. Co więcej: zaprosili przedstawicieli CAŚ UW, by udali się na miejsce i zapoznali się z tam z sytuacją zabytków odkrytych i konserwowanych przez naszą misję."

⌛ It's been 10 years since we wrote this:

🤍"Organizing the exhibition 🔸Endangered Heritage. Syria and Iraq in the research of the Polish Centre of Mediterranean Archaeology🔸 we expected to be telling the story of our excavation and conservation projects suspended in 2011 with the advent of the Syrian civil war. The takeover of Palmyra from the Daesh by government forces a few days ago changed that.

With fresh news on the situation in Palmyra, the scene of almost half a century of Polish archaeological research, representatives of the Syrian Directorate General for Antiquities and Museums approached the PCMA to send Polish experts urgently to Palmyra to assess the damage to objects excavated and conserved by our mission."

🔸Prof. Ewdoksia Papuci-Władyka wystąpiła podczas konferencji „Cypriot Studies in Poland", organizowanej przez Pracownię Studiów Helleńskich Wydziału Artes Liberales UW oraz Ambasadę Republiki Cypru w Polsce.🇨🇾

🏛️Temat wystąpienia: „60 years of Polish Archaeological Research in Nea Paphos, Capital of Hellenistic and Roman Cyprus – Summary of main achievements”

Podczas wydarzenia zaprezentowano również publikacje poświęcone Cyprowi, w tym książki współautorstwa prof. Papuci-Władyki.

🔸Prof. Ewdoksia Papuci-Władyka delivered a presentation at the „Cypriot Studies in Poland" conference, organized by the Faculty of “Artes Liberales”at the University of Warsaw, and the Embassy of the Republic of Cyprus in Poland.🇨🇾

🏛️Lecture: “60 years of Polish Archaeological Research in Nea Paphos, Capital of Hellenistic and Roman Cyprus – Summary of main achievements"

The conference also featured presentations of publications dedicated to Cyprus, including co-authored books by Prof. Papuci-Władyka.

📚 W Stacji Badawczej CAŚ UW na Cyprze rozpoczęto nową serię wykładów „PCMA Research Centre in Cyprus Lecture Series”!

17 kwietnia 2026 r. odbył się wykład inauguracyjny 🔹dr. Eustathiosa Raptou pt. “Lux ex tenebris. Tombs as Source of Knowledge about History and Society of Ancient Paphos”. Wydarzenie przyciągnęło liczne grono uczestników – zarówno na miejscu, jak i online.

👨‍🏫Dr. Raptou przedstawił wyniki badań nad wpływami macedońskimi w sztuce sepulkralnej Cypru. Zaprezentował szereg niepublikowanych dotąd grobowców badanych i zabezpieczanych przez Departament Starożytności.

Cykl będzie kontynuowany w maju 2026 – zapraszamy do śledzenia kolejnych wydarzeń! 👀

📚 The PCMA UW Research Centre in Cyprus has launched a new lecture series: “PCMA Research Centre in Cyprus Lecture Series”!

On April 17, 2026, the inaugural lecture was delivered by 🔹Dr. Eustathios Raptou: “Lux ex tenebris. Tombs as Source of Knowledge about History and Society of Ancient Paphos.” The event attracted a wide audience, both in person and online.

👨‍🏫Dr. Raptou presented the results of his research on Macedonian influences in the funerary art of Cyprus. He also showcased a range of previously unpublished tombs investigated and conserved by the Department of Antiquities.

The series will continue in May 2026 – stay tuned for upcoming events! 👀

The event is organized by PCMA UW staff members, 🔸Prof. Ewdoksia Papuci-Władyka and 🔸Dr. Paweł L**h.
