O săptămână excelentă! A început cu Laurent Carozza și conferința sa incitantă despre interpretarea neoliticului dobrogean, la 70 de ani de la descoperirea Gânditorului. S-a încheiat cu sesiunea științifică anuală a CICSA, deschisă de eruditul și spumosul keynote speech al lui Florian Matei Popescu, despre motivele politice ale războiului lui Traian cu dacii.

În onoarea Gânditorului de la Cernavodă!

În urmă cu 70 de ani, cercetările arheologice conduse de către Dumitru Berciu au condus la descoperirea unor artefacte emblematice pentru neoliticul din spațiul României: statueta Gânditorul de la Cernavodă și statueta feminină de aceeași factură, aparținând culturii Hamangia. Cu acest prilej, Facultatea de Istorie, prin Departamentul de Istorie Antică, Arheologie și Istoria Artei, găzduiește în data de 20 aprilie conferința unui important specialist în studierea neo-eneoliticului la Dunărea de Jos, dr. Laurent Carozza de la Centre National de Recherches Scientifiques - GEODE-UMR, Maison de la recherche, Université Toulouse-le Mirail.

CIVIS micro-credential Digital Humanities for Renaissance Studies (DigRen) - workshop in Bucharest

Between November 10th and 14th 2025, the Centre Régional Francophone d’Études Avancées en Sciences Sociales in Bucharest (CEREFREA Villa Noël) hosted the research oriented educational activities design workshop pertaining to the CIVIS micro-credential Digital Humanities for Renaissance Studies, organized (workshop) and coordinated (micro-credential) by Alexandra Lițu (University of Bucharest).

All the partners in the project – the University Autónoma of Madrid, the University Sapienza of Rome, the National and Kapodistrian University of Athens, Aix-Marseille Université, the University Hassan II of Casablanca and the University of Sfax – were present in Bucharest.

Two stakeholders were involved in the workshop. CEREFREA hosted the event and organized (Simona Corlan and Alexandra Lițu) a complementary book launch event (https://villanoel.unibuc.ro/2025/11/05/lancement-de-livre-the-ambassadors-notebook-pr-viorel-panaite/). ART SAFARI offered the participants a guided visit on its premises.

The workshop was one of the main steps in setting up the CIVIS micro-credential Digital Humanities for Renaissance Studies (2026).

Archaeology of the Greek and Roman Periods in the Black Sea Region (November 18-19, 2025, Athens)
First collaborative workshop on the archaeology of the Black Sea. A joint initiative of Polish and Romanian research institutions

The Polish Archaeological Institute at Athens (PAIA), the Romanian Archaeological Institute in Athens (RAIA), the Nicolaus Copernicus University in Toruń and the University of Bucharest have the pleasure to announce the international conference Archaeology of the Greek and Roman Periods in the Black Sea Region. People, Culture, Landscape. First collaborative workshop on the archaeology of the Black Sea. A joint initiative of Polish and Romanian research institutions (November 18 and 19, 2025 at PAIA and online). The conference is organized by dr.hab. Inga Głusek (for the Polish Archeological Institute at Athens and the Nicolaus Copernicus University in Toruń) and by dr. Alexandra Lițu (for the Romanian Archaeological Institute in Athens and the University of Bucharest).
This initiative is conceived of as the inaugural step for a series of international conferences organized at Athens by the four partners with the aim of establishing a yearly event focused on archaeology in the Black Sea area. The main focus of the 2025 conference is pottery. The conference gathers together scholars from Poland, Romania, Bulgaria and Ukraine. From October 30 to November 1 (November 6), the Department of Ancient History, Archaeology and History of Art is hosting an EpiDoc workshop and MAPPOLA training session led by Dr. Chiara Cenati (University of Vienna) and Dr. Marta Fogagnolo (University of Bologna).

The activities are being led in the framework of the courses on Digital Antiquity developed at the University of Bucharest (bachelor's degree in History and as part of the master's program Digital Humanities).

Începem anul universitar cu o invitație la conferința internațională pe care o organizăm în zilele de 3 și 4 octombrie: Epistolography, knowledge, and the Ancient World. Aproape 30 de istorici, clasiciști, istorici ai religiilor, specialiști în antichitate de la universitățile din Torino, Oxford, Atena, Heidelberg Napoli, Barcelona, Varșovia, Göttingen etc., precum și din cunoscute universități românești, vin la București pentru a discuta despre corepondența anticilor.
