✨ Meet Tessa ✨

Tessa is a first-year student and serves as Secretary for en Vogue. She has always had a strong passion for fashion, growing up designing clothes and putting on “fashion shows” for her family. Outside of academics she enjoys thrifting, modeling, and growing her personal shopping and styling business, Tessa’s Thrifts & Threads. After two years studying Neuroscience and Psychology, Tessa made a career shift to pursue fashion driven by her desire to combine creativity with helping others feel confident and secure in what they wear. A current trend she’s loving is Mary Jane or ballet-inspired shoes!

These events will highlight our development as designers and fashion professionals while also reflecting our journey of self-discovery and artistic expression. We have flourished in the Apparel Merchandising and Design program, collaborated across multi-disciplines, strived to be inclusive, and forged community connections. Our fashion show will exhibit designs from apparel students and styled looks from our local retail partners. Come celebrate our accomplishments with us!

"HEY, BARBIE!" was constructed by visual merchandising students on November 3rd. Inspired by pop culture, the display featured a Barbie theme, a recognizable figure since the 1960s, and still influencing young girls today to pursue their dreams. The visual display referenced different types of Barbie characters through curated and creative styling...with tons of pink, of course! Sporty Barbie brings energy and determination to the forefront. Dressed in athletic gear, she embodies confidence, movement, and the idea that strength is beautiful. Rockstar Barbie's bold look and daring attitude reflect the freedom to stand out and take center stage. Fairy Princess Barbie introduces an element of fantasy and imagination with delicate details and shimmering colors. Corporate Barbie represents ambition, intelligence, and modern empowerment with her polished appearance and poised confidence.

Special thanks to Ms. Lee Ann for partnering with the Visual Merchandising class on November 3rd. This was an excellent real-world opportunity for students to apply their learning by merchandising a variety of fixtures in the store. Students worked hard to determine the best products for each fixture and the appropriate merchandising methods to use. It was a very successful endeavor: some customers came into the store to inquire about the products that had been freshly rearranged.

Students constructed their visual display entitled "Boo-tique," inspired by the Halloween holiday on October 27th. Ensembles consisted of classic and spooky fashion pieces: a cape-clad witchy look with a pet spider perched atop a shoulder, a toilet-papered mummy, and a zombie with a redesigned sweater bursting with innovative crocheted growths. Props reinforced the Trick or Treat tradition with hay bales, pumpkins, wheat, fall foliage, and feathers. The backdrop included a ginormous pumpkin outline made of string lights and paper cutouts to represent a jack o'lantern face.

✨ Meet Summer ✨

Summer () is a second-year student and serves as Vice President for en Vogue Society. She enjoys sewing and upcycling clothing in her free time as well as thrifting and showing off some of her latest styles at work. Summer has been designing clothing for as long as she can remember even if she didn’t know that’s what it was called then. As a kid, she loved to draw, especially clothing on models, sew and make her own clothing, or upcycle one garment into new ones. She has known since a young age that she wanted to do something in fashion in the future. A current trend that she loves is oversized wide leg baggy jeans and pants.
