What started as an Extra Help position turned into a 20-year career at the University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign.

Margaret Caston has continued to learn, take on new opportunities, and grow throughout her career. Today, she serves as an Accounting Associate with the University of Illinois College of Veterinary Medicine, supporting the people and work of the Veterinary Teaching Hospital.

For Autumn Hiles, the University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign has always been more than just a place to work.

“The University of Illinois has always been a part of my life growing up, so when I decided I wanted to build a long-term career, I knew I wanted to be somewhere that would be around for generations to come. HR called my name, and I answered!”

Today, Autumn works as an HR Specialist within Illinois Human Resources. One of the projects she’s enjoyed most is the “Puzzle Project,” which brought colleagues together to learn more about the different work happening across IHR.

Outside of work, Autumn loves cooking and baking for her family and has been known to bring homemade treats to meetings and events. Her philosophy? Everything is a little better with a good dessert.

Support Student Mental Health

Mental Health First Aid and SOS for Higher Ed training can help faculty and staff recognize when a student may be experiencing a mental health challenge, respond with confidence, and connect them with appropriate resources.

These trainings help strengthen mental health awareness and support across campus, giving faculty and staff the tools to recognize when a student may need help and know where to turn.

Our Assembly Hall Attendant position helps keep Krannert Center looking good, sets up and breaks down events, and performs other logistics to ensure our public events are safe efficient, and successful. This is a full-time Civil Service position, Wednesday through Saturday 4pm - 2am. High school diploma and a willingness to work hard and a be a good team player are required.
