Earlier this spring, Clemson University Anthropology Club hosted the South Carolina Anthropology Student Conference, welcoming students from colleges and universities across the state for a day of paper and poster presentations showcasing their research and scholarship.

The event was an exciting success and, hopefully, the beginning of reviving this conference as an annual tradition.

Our anthropology students and faculty did an outstanding job coordinating every detail and representing Clemson University with professionalism, enthusiasm, and hospitality for our visiting scholars.

Did you know our department and students are able to assist with real-world investigations?

At the end of March, Clemson University SACJ Department Chair and a few of our anthropology students were on the ground in Anderson County helping authorities recover and examine skeletal remains. Their expertise plays an important role in carefully documenting evidence and supporting ongoing investigations alongside law enforcement and search teams.

The coordinated effort also included Foothills Search and Rescue and multiple specialized units from the Anderson County Sheriff’s Office. Officials say the investigation remains active, with more updates expected as information becomes available.
