Something new is growing at OSU! While Oregon State has maintained several research vineyards for many years, a new planting commenced this fall for a teaching-focused vineyard. This vineyard is very close to campus so that students can visit during class times to learn about many different varietals, trellis systems, and pruning styles all in one place.

On Tuesday, Sept. 1, Dr. Patty Skinkis will be hosting free, on-site open hours for you to walk the blocks of mature Pinot noir, Pinot gris, Chardonnay, and Merlot on up to 18 rootstocks at OSU’s Woodhall Vineyard in Monroe.

Stop in anytime between 10 a.m. and noon tomorrow to learn about this project and what researchers have learned about rootstock decisions in Oregon vineyards. We’ll also be happy to discuss ongoing trials for minimal farming and improved cultivars.
