We had the honor of hosting Susan Tiger and Kyrin Green from the Kickapoo Tribe of Oklahoma at SIUE for the event "Beyond Land Acknowledgment: Connecting with the Kickapoo Tribe of Oklahoma." In their first visit to SIUE, they discussed the Tribe's history, traditions, and ancestral connections to the land known today as southern Illinois.

Dr. Julie Zimmermann, Professor of Anthropology and coordinator of SIUE’s Native American Study program, facilitated the conversation, and the SIUE Kimmel Belonging and Engagement Hub helped organize this historic and important event.
