ESU Nurse Camp 2026 - Session II
Incoming 9th through 12th graders got the opportunity to work through the following hands-on stations:
▪️Basic adult & infant CPR - learning correct technique to a fun beat
▪️Vital signs - learning normal/abnormal values and how to take temperature, pulse, respirations, oxygen saturation, blood pressure and a pain scale assessment
▪️Simulation & Body Interact table - worked through a short, interactive scenario to treat a 15 year old with a head injury after a bike wreck in the ER
▪️Newborn Diaper & Swaddle Races - learned how to correctly change a newborn diaper and swaddle a newborn. Their skills were put to the test in a relay race!
▪️Newman Regional Health provided a panel of nurses to come talk to students about the nursing profession and why they love their career
▪️Discussed different pathways in the nursing profession and how to prepare in high school to pursue each path
Huge thank you to Newman Regional Health for partnering on this event and the generous donation of the T-shirts and lanyards! 🩺
