🎓 Meet Dr. Christy Elliott-Cox, a proud 2025 graduate of Kentucky State University's Doctor of Nursing Practice program. 💚💛

After learning about the program through a fellow alumnus and researching its strong reputation, Dr. Elliott-Cox knew KSU was the right fit. As a Louisville native working in her community, the program offered the opportunity to advance her education while continuing her career.

Today, she celebrates a remarkable milestone as the first person in her family to earn a doctorate. With the support of a grant from Kentucky State University, she was able to complete her degree and achieve a lifelong goal.

"I am forever grateful."

From neighbors and schoolmates to husband and wife, James and Artie Atkin represent the very best of the Kentucky State University family. 💚💛

Both proud Lexington natives, the Atkins credit Kentucky State with helping shape their personal and professional journeys. James Atkin '72, a History major with a minor in African American History, went on to become a respected community leader and, in 2022, was elected Mayor of Danville, Kentucky, where he continues to serve today.

Artie Atkin earned not one, but two degrees from Kentucky State, completing her Business and Accounting degree in 1975 and her Business Education degree in 1982. A dedicated educator, she retired after a distinguished career and later earned her superintendent certification through post graduate studies.

Together, James and Artie remain deeply connected to Kentucky State through their involvement with alumni associations at both the local and national levels. Whether mentoring students, supporting university initiatives, or sharing their K-State pride, they are always eager to give back. And we LOVE it!

Their story is a testament to the lifelong impact of a Kentucky State education and the power of staying connected to your alma mater.
