We are saddened to share the passing of Franklin College’s 15th President, James G. “Jay” Moseley.
Dr. Moseley served as president from 2002–2015, leaving a lasting impact on Franklin College through expanded academic and athletic opportunities, enrollment growth, and a transformed campus. He was awarded an honorary Doctor of Humane Letters degree in 2023.
Our hearts are with former First Lady Candace, their children Jamie and Emily, their grandchildren, and all who knew and loved Dr. Moseley. The Franklin College community mourns with the Moseley family and holds them close in our thoughts and prayers.

What can the influenza pandemic of 1918, the Great Depression, World War II and the Cuban Missile Crisis teach us about leadership today?

Pulitzer Prize-winning author and presidential historian Jon Meacham will answer that question during a special Constitution Day Convocation at Franklin College on Sept. 17, 2026, at 7 p.m.
