Our New Fellows had a blast at the annual New Fellows Retreat! They spent the day engaging in team building activities at UNC Charlotte’s Venture Outdoors Leadership site. Most importantly, they continued to build relationships and grow closer as a cohort!

Meet the new class of Shucker Fellows! We are excited to watch these first-years continue to grow in their leadership and eager to see how they make an impact on Furman’s campus and beyond!

We were thrilled to welcome Dr. Harry Shucker, the program’s namesake and a longtime contributor to the Furman family, to our first session with the New Fellows!

After sharing the history of the program and his own background, he spoke with the students about how to approach leadership from their unique perspectives and encouraged them to rely on one another as a community.

As part of the Shucker Fellows Program, the cohort will have opportunities to hear from esteemed community members such as Dr. Shucker and more over the coming years. This is just the beginning!

09/22/2026

After a highly competitive selection process, we were pleased to welcome 28 first-year students to the Shucker Fellows Program at our New Fellows Brunch over the weekend! They heard from several members of the Lead Team about the valuable community and skills Fellows have access to and started growing closer as a cohort.

Welcome, New Fellows! Looking forward to all of the energy, insights, and intentionality you all will bring to the Shucker family!
