Purdue Extension ANR Educator Jayde Grisham recently welcomed guests to her farm, Honey Bird Flower Farm, for a behind-the-scenes look at what it takes to grow market-ready blooms.

The experience ended with the best part: everyone got to create their own bouquet using flowers grown right on Jayde’s farm! Thank you to everyone who joined us and helped make this Cut Flower Farm Tour a success!

Indiana continues to be hit hard by severe summer weather. The most impacted areas seem to be northwest Indiana with wind damage and the east-central part of the state experiencing massive flooding. However, many other areas had severe storms and power outages are currently reported in many counties.

With power outages also comes the use of portable generators. While generators can be a true lifesaver in emergencies, they also present hazards from carbon monoxide poisoning to back-feeding current causing injury or death. The Indiana State Fair kicks off today and we look forward to seeing you!

Be sure to visit our gardens throughout the course of the Fair. See the award-winning hard work of the Purdue Extension Master Gardener Program in the Purdue Extension - Marion County Demonstration Garden, and take your family on an adventure in the Marion County, Indiana 4-H Children's Garden!

You can also swing by the Purdue Extension building, where Educators from around the state will be showcasing the various programs Extension offers.

All of these activations are located in the far northwest corner of the Indiana State Fairgrounds & Event Center.
