Student Takeover: Day 2 of Abby Hartzog!

“During the spring 2026 semester I had the opportunity to study abroad in Copenhagen, Denmark, but while I was abroad I was able to travel to 10 countries, one of which was Italy! I was lucky enough to travel with two of my architecture friends from KU, while there we went to Venice, Florence, Cortona, and Rome! One of the most rewarding parts was experiencing so much of what we learned in architecture school firsthand. We were even fortunate enough to coordinate with our history professor, Peter Olshavsky, back in Kansas to make sure we saw it all! I can’t wait to be back, and I’m so happy I got to do it with my best friends”

Student Takeover: Day 1 of Abby Hartzog!
“Hi my name is Abby Hartzog and I’m going into my 4th year of school majoring in architecture!
Over this last semester I was fortunate enough to study abroad in Copenhagen, Denmark
though DIS! While abroad I truly got to experience the perks of living in Copenhagen. Just through my architecture program, I got to explore not just Copenhagen but also Finland, Estonia, and greater parts of Denmark with my class! This gave me the possibility to see how architecture fluctuates between countries, and the different approaches to project types. It was truly a once in a lifetime opportunity and I couldn’t be more grateful! Having the chance to
meet so many amazing people from all over both the United States and Denmark is something I
will never take for granted”

“Hi! My name is Joshua, I’m a film & media major and minoring in music. This summer I wanted to go on another study abroad trip and the study abroad office has so many wonderful opportunities so I decided to do an internship! I completed a 6 week internship with a Live Music Agency in London! I helped out with event set up, projects, social media, content, and managerial tasks! I had a wonderful time getting to experience a different culture while also immersing myself in the entertainment industry! ”

Alexandra spent three-weeks in Stockholm, Sweden through DIS! Read more below about her experience!

“I am a double major in Communications & Social Work, as well as minoring in Spanish! I spend the past three weeks in Sweden taking a course in Human Trafficking in a Global Context. The engaging learning that we were able to do, and the various field studies were all so informative and an amazing way to really learn as much as I could. I had such a great time in Sweden and was able to meet so many amazing people and friends!”

“I am an incoming senior studying Global and International Studies and Italian with a minor in Defense Intelligence. I’m spending the summer in Taormina, Italy attending the Babilonia language school, visiting a local migrant center, and volunteering at the Taormina film Festival and Taobuk literature festival! I’ve spent a lot of time on the beach eating fresh seafood while I still can before returning to Kansas!”

Hear from our first Peer Advisor of the series about what our peers have been up to this summer! ☀️🌎

“I’m a rising senior studying journalism and Spanish with a minor in history! I visited Tokyo, Japan, and saw several temples, art exhibits, shrines, and my personal favorite, the sumo show. I loved eating lots of shabu-shabu and exploring the different neighborhoods like Ginza, Shibuya, and Asakusa! Can’t wait to go back!”
