WesternU Oregon hosted its 2026 Halloween Costume Contest today in the CHS-Northwest building. Thank you to everyone who dressed up and made this Halloween event a great success!

OMED 2026: Students, staff, alumni, and friends of HCOM and COMP reunited last week in Las Vegas for OMED 2026. Amidst attending educational seminars and hands-on workshops, HCOM and COMP student leaders represented their respective colleges well at national meetings for SOMA (Student Osteopathic Medical Association), COSGP (Council of Osteopathic Student Government Presidents), Sigma Sigma Phi (national osteopathic service and honor fraternity), and ACOEP (American College of Osteopathic Emergency Physicians).

Two HCOM students - Olivia Rodgers, OMS-II and Tiffany Tran, OMS-II - were also inducted into Omega Beta Iota, the national osteopathic political action and advocacy honor society. The weekend finished with an electric alumni mixer hosted by WesternU Alumni Engagement team.

Today at HCOM is the Halloween door/desk decorating contest. Students and guests are touring a number of spooky nooks to choose their favorite haunt and trick-or-treat in a lead up to Halloween. Happy almost Halloween from WesternU HCOM!

The American College of Osteopathic Surgeons (ACOS) held its 2026 Annual Clinical Assembly (ACA) and ACOS-MSS Fall Conference in New Orleans, Louisiana earlier this month and several HCOM students attended and presented their research. Their project centered around proof of concept in developing a 3D printed colonoscopy trainer for medical student education and skill building.

Thank you to the Lebanon High School students who visited us this morning along with their teachers, Joan Fletcher and Leah Rainey. While here they were hosted by a great group of HCOM students and staff and explored and learned about anatomy, ultrasound, the Sim Lab and more.

Several third and fourth year HCOM students attended the annual American Society of Anesthesiologists annual meeting in San Diego, California this past weekend. Lincy, OMSIII and Kathya, OMSIV represented HCOM at the house of delegates meeting.

Students had the opportunity to network with program directors and residents of residencies they’re aspiring towards, learn about new technological developments, and stay up to date in the field they’re striving to match in. They also met up with with fellow med students from OHSU, along with other colleagues from Oregon and nationwide.
