Wiley University joins the Sanders family and all who knew and loved Marlon Geron Sanders, Sr. in mourning his passing.

A recent graduate of our Higher Education program, Marlon was a gifted musician, educator, mentor, and coach whose life and work touched countless people. As an elementary school music teacher, he used music, encouragement, and compassion to uplift students and inspire young minds.

We extend our heartfelt condolences to his family, friends, students, colleagues, and loved ones during this difficult time. Please keep them in your thoughts and prayers.

Wiley University is proud to support the work of the Higher Education Leadership Foundation (H.E.L.F.) as it continues to create space for meaningful, data-informed conversations that strengthen HBCU leadership.

The latest H.E.L.F. article highlights candid conversations from the convening, where HBCU leaders examined the difference between governance and operational management, the importance of trust between presidents and boards, and the role strong leadership plays in helping institutions navigate challenge and change.

These conversations matter because the strength of HBCUs depends not only on vision, but on the people, partnerships, and governance structures that help that vision move forward.

Wiley University’s 137th Commencement Weekend was a powerful celebration of legacy: the legacy our graduates are stepping into, the legacy our alumni continue to carry, and the legacy families are building across generations.

During his Commencement Address, Mr. Charles E. Johnson reminded the Graduates of 2026 to live with purpose and work toward a legacy that will reach far beyond themselves. That message came to life throughout the weekend as 239 graduates glided across the stage, Golden and Silver Graduates returned home, and families celebrated the continuation of their Wiley University story.

Legacy was not only spoken. It was seen, honored, and carried forward.

The beauty of Commencement is that every photo holds more than a moment. It holds a story.

A story of late nights, answered prayers, family sacrifices, faculty support, friendships, and the determination it took to finish. As Wiley University celebrated the Class of 2026, we saw our mission come to life through graduates prepared to lead, serve, create, and contribute far beyond the Yard.

Mr. Charles Johnson, President of SodexoMagic, reminded our graduates that purpose is not something to take lightly. His message challenged them to honor their calling, lead with integrity, and recognize the responsibility that comes with what they have earned.

This is Student Success. This is legacy. This is community impact. This is Wiley University.

Congratulations again to the Class of 2026. Go Forth Inspired.
