A wonderful evening of music and history at our Bach Family Festival!

We were honored to welcome harpsichordist Dr. Ian Pritchard as our festival guest artist. Dr. Pritchard is a faculty member of the Colburn School Conservatory of Music in Los Angeles. In addition to adjudicating our festival and presenting a spectacular evening recital, he visited our Music History class to share a fascinating lecture on the harpsichord’s role in the musical life of the 17th and early 18th centuries.

A heartfelt thank-you to Dr. Pritchard for sharing his artistry, scholarship, and enthusiasm for early music with our students and the entire university community!

🎹 What a wonderful day at our Bach Family Festival! 🎶

Dr. Jiwon Choi and and Dr. Anthony Olson had a wonderful time listening to so many amazing young musicians share their talents and their love of music. Before the afternoon Honors Recital, we also enjoyed working with several of the students in a brief masterclass.

One particularly inspiring story involved a participant who injured a finger on her right hand while practicing taekwondo just one week before the festival. Rather than giving up, she rose to the challenge by learning C. P. E. Bach’s Keyboard Piece for One Hand Alone—a wonderful example of the adaptability, determination, and creativity that make music so rewarding. And she took home an Honorable Mention metal!

Our afternoon masterclass gave several young pianists the opportunity to share their music and receive feedback. The Honors Recital that followed showcased wonderful talent and hard work.

A big thank-you to all the students, families, and teachers who made this year’s festival such a success. It’s a privilege to support these talented young musicians and celebrate their accomplishments! 🎼❤️

🚌 🎶 Tower Choir Tour Chronicles: Day 2. The Singing Bearcats rounded out Day 1 with the Liberty Community Chorus, joining their rehearsal as they begin preparations for their Christmas concert. What a special organization, filled with so much love and community! Special thanks to their wonderful conductor, Bryan Taylor, and their fabulous singers for welcoming us with open arms!

Today we visit two dynamic high school programs: Ray-Pec, under the direction of Stephen Rew, and Park Hill, under the direction of Jessie Reimer. Looking forward to both of these exchanges!! Let’s gooooooooo! 💚💚

🚌 🎶Tower Choir is on tour! These singing Bearcats hit the road early this morning with stops at Trenton HS, South Harrison HS, and Cameron HS. Thank you Tyler Busick, Kierra Shelby, and Jamey Derks, for opening up your spaces and welcoming us with open arms—we LOVED our time with you! Tonight, we visit the Liberty Community Chorus, under the direction of Bryan Taylor! Let’s goooooooo! 💚💚
