Our students got to meet and chat with Taylor Swift this week, making dreams come true for several of our students. At the 2026 Nashville Songwriters Hall of Fame Gala, 𝐬𝐞𝐯𝐞𝐧 𝐌𝐓𝐒𝐔 𝐑𝐞𝐜𝐨𝐫𝐝𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐈𝐧𝐝𝐮𝐬𝐭𝐫𝐲 𝐬𝐭𝐮𝐝𝐞𝐧𝐭𝐬 𝐡𝐚𝐝 𝐭𝐡𝐞 𝐨𝐩𝐩𝐨𝐫𝐭𝐮𝐧𝐢𝐭𝐲 𝐭𝐨 𝐜𝐨𝐧𝐧𝐞𝐜𝐭 𝐰𝐢𝐭𝐡 𝐬𝐨𝐦𝐞 𝐨𝐟 𝐦𝐮𝐬𝐢𝐜’𝐬 𝐦𝐨𝐬𝐭 𝐢𝐧𝐟𝐥𝐮𝐞𝐧𝐭𝐢𝐚𝐥 𝐬𝐨𝐧𝐠𝐰𝐫𝐢𝐭𝐞𝐫𝐬, 𝐚𝐫𝐭𝐢𝐬𝐭𝐬 𝐚𝐧𝐝 𝐢𝐧𝐝𝐮𝐬𝐭𝐫𝐲 𝐥𝐞𝐚𝐝𝐞𝐫𝐬, including Taylor Swift, who made history as the Hall’s youngest-ever inductee.
Invited through a faculty connection with Dr. Denise Shackelford, our students were selected through an application process to fill seven the seats available to our college. Representing songwriting, music business and audio production, they experienced firsthand the relationships, conversations and creative community that make Nashville such a special place to build a career in music.
For senior Brenna Borzyskowski, the evening was a reminder of why she came to MTSU to pursue her dream of working in music publishing. For senior Emily Eastep, it was the highlight of her Senior year.
These are the kinds of experiences that bring classroom learning into the real world, connecting students with the people, possibilities and inspiration that can shape their futures.
