Yesterday, Dr. H. Ray Dunning, former Trevecca professor and renowned theologian, celebrated his 100th birthday.

Dr. Dunning holds a special place, not only in Trevecca’s history, but as one who shaped Trevecca’s legacy. His scholarly contributions established a link to a biblical and historic tradition, allowing the Wesleyan-holiness tradition to recover its richest resources.

We are a different people today because of Dr. Dunning’s contributions and careful academic work. While the holiness tradition was trending toward legalism, his work helped us to recover the life-giving good news that is the beating heart of the holiness message.
