Why can one person crush three espressos and feel nothing while another starts hearing their own heartbeat? One UNO College of Arts and Sciences researcher helped uncover some clues about caffeine by studying from zebrafish. ⚡️☕
The study found that not everyone responds to caffeine the same way, and neither do zebrafish. Some individuals may be biologically wired to be more sensitive to its effects, and those differences may begin at the molecular level in the brain.
But studying this can help researchers better understand anxiety disorders and the biological pathways that influence mental health.
