🎉 Top Donor for Radford Gives Back! 🎉

We’re excited to share that our Communication Sciences and Disorders department earned Top Donor recognition in Radford University’s Radford Gives Back food drive! ❤️

Our department added a little friendly competition to the campus-wide campaign, with each cohort working to collect the most food items. Thanks to the generosity of our faculty and students, we collected just under 350 food items to support the Bobcat Backpacks Program, which provides weekend food packs to children in need in the Radford City Schools district.

A big thank-you to everyone who contributed! Your generosity and enthusiasm made this friendly competition a meaningful way to come together as a department and support children in our local community. We’re proud to be part of a university community that gives back!

💜💛 DLD Awareness Day! 💛💜

The Department of Communication Sciences and Disorders showed our support for Developmental Language Disorder (DLD) Awareness Day by wearing purple and gold!

DLD is a lifelong condition that affects how people understand and use language, yet it often goes unrecognized. Raising awareness helps promote understanding, reduce stigma, and ensure that individuals with DLD receive the support they need to communicate, learn, and thrive.

We’re proud to stand together to raise awareness and celebrate the importance of language, communication, and inclusion for all! 💜💛

💬 October is AAC Awareness Month!

We are proud to recognize the importance of augmentative and alternative communication (AAC) in supporting communication, connection, and participation for individuals of all ages.

AAC includes a wide range of tools and strategies—from gestures, pictures, and communication boards to speech-generating devices—that help people express their thoughts, needs, ideas, and personalities.

Everyone deserves a way to communicate, and communication takes many forms. By increasing awareness, promoting access to AAC, and supporting communication partners, we can help create more inclusive environments where every voice matters.

This month, let’s celebrate the many ways people communicate and the role AAC plays in helping individuals connect with the world around them!

October is Audiology Awareness Month! 💙

Our is proud to recognize the important role audiologists play in supporting hearing health and improving quality of life across the lifespan.

From identifying hearing loss and providing hearing technology to helping individuals communicate more effectively and stay connected with the people around them, audiologists make a meaningful difference in the lives of individuals and families every day.

This month, we encourage everyone to prioritize their hearing health, schedule regular hearing evaluations, and learn more about the impact of hearing on communication, relationships, and overall well-being.

👂 Better hearing supports better connections. Let’s celebrate the professionals who help make those connections possible!

💕 WE WEAR PINK! 💕

Yesterday, our department came together in a sea of pink to show our absolute support for Breast Cancer Awareness Month! We had an incredible turnout from our amazing students, staff, and faculty all standing united in this fight.

We want to shine a special spotlight on two of our own faculty members: Dr. Vrushali Angadi (left), a 3-year survivor, and Dr. Lauren Flora (right), a 5-year survivor! 💕 Your strength, resilience, and courage in this fight are inspiring.

To everyone who wore pink - thank you for making our department a community built on love, hope, and unwavering support. Together, we honor the fighters, celebrate the survivors, and stand with everyone impacted. 🌸💪
