It may have been a scorching summer day today... but Abby Otto and Cate Hardcorn seeding some excitement for everybody in a couple of months as Fall gets closer! If all goes well this will be another first for us here at Meadowbrook... so stay tuned!

It may be a dreary and muggy Monday morning across campus this morning.... but it's also a dreary and muggy Monday morning here, too!

That doesn't stop our student employees and 301 student from getting a newly freshened heifer into the robotic milker for the first time, though!

We emphasize with them every day that "calm and slow" is fast here in the dairy when working with the ladies... and this morning I watched all 3 of them exhibit that. The heifer went in beautiful loy and had a great first experience in the robot... and you can't ask for anything better than that!

We are proud of you, Tabitha Neace, Abby Otto and Stephan Samuel! You're doing awesome.

From on-call visits with our animals for direct care to herd pregnancy checks to assisting with one of many labs through the semester teaching our students.. Dr. L.W. Beckley is appreciated more than he knows here at EKU. Dr. Beckley operates his own practice and on top of it all is our farm Veterinarian. We appreciate his services and friendship and mentorship every day, but when we see there is a National Veterinary Appreciation Day we want to make sure to recognize him! Thanks for everything you do for us, Dr. Beckley!

Today we had our every 4 month visit from our hoof trimmer! Brandon Beavers takes awesome care of our ladies hooves, and it's always great to catch up and see everyone walk back into the barn on fresh trims!

You've probably seen Stephan Samuel leading the trombone section with the in the Fall, but this Summer he's joining us as an AGR 301 Student!

Stephan is finishing up his Bachelor's Degree in Music Theory and Composition and simultaneously finishing up an Associates Degree in Agriculture! We can't wait to watch Stephan grow and learn with us this Summer and look forward to highlighting his achievements!

This little one is in our stacker / novelty pumpkin patch. The jack o' lanterns, medium orange and white pumpkins should be poking up any day!

Thankfully, being a Monday morning, we understand the message loud and clear.

The difference is that now the piglet is back to sleep on their cozy heat pad.

Nothing like a couple of Kappa Delta ladies (Cate Hardcorn and Abby Otto) making sure EKU got the last of their pumpkins seeded to help get the Fall vibes going...

Never mind that it's June. We are ready for Fall and all the great things with it.. especially our students (and pumpkins)!
