Please join us on Thursday, November 5th, from 3:00–4:00 PM in the Ceramics Studio at Brick City 1, Room 105, for a visiting artist lecture with Jeannie Hulen and Adam Posnak from the University of Arkansas.

Jeannie Hulen, Professor of Ceramics and Associate Program Director of Studio Art, creates ceramic sculptures and installations that explore themes of gender, consumer culture, and the relationship between people and the natural world. Her work incorporates humor, familiar objects, and unconventional materials to examine how personal experiences and cultural values shape our understanding of the world around us.

Adam Posnak, Teaching Assistant Professor of Studio Art, explores relationships between objects, symbols, and belief systems through his ceramic practice. His work draws from West African and African-Diasporic religious and cultural traditions, particularly the production and use of ritual pottery, to consider how objects carry cultural and spiritual meaning through their making, use, and the traditions surrounding them.

Both and will share their artwork, research, and studio practices. The lecture is free and open to students, faculty, and the public. We hope you can join us!

*Record turnout* yesterday evening for the Springfield Art Museum's Slow Viewing event, hosted at our Carolla Arts Exhibition Center and facilitated by A+D MFA in Visual Studies alumna Shauna Smith. So glad that so many art lovers from the community were able to come out for this.
