Five UTulsa students have been selected for the 2026-27 Tulsa Schweitzer Fellowship cohort, where they will address community needs related to mobility access, financial literacy, STEM education, end-of-life planning, and community connection through projects developed in partnership with local organizations.

This year's Fellows are Madeleine Fulk, Alexa Miranda, Maqhawe Ndlovu, Selah Spain and Hannah Tate.

From supporting adaptive mobility equipment users and teaching business and financial literacy to creating STEM opportunities for elementary students, expanding end-of-life planning resources, and supporting women experiencing homelessness, each project is designed to serve the Tulsa community through collaboration, compassion, and authentic partnership.

Thanks to everyone who attended The University of Tulsa’s fall 2026 Presidential Lecture Series featuring Pulitzer Prize-winning journalist Jodi Kantor of the New York Times. A packed house at Lorton Performance Center on Thursday night enjoyed Kantor’s recount of her reporting on the Harvey Weinstein case, the Supreme Court shadow docket and more. She also shared wisdom from her book “How to Start” before participating in a fireside chat with Arts & Sciences Dean Blaine Greteman and fielding questions from the audience.

Earlier in the day, Kantor took time to sit down with students from UTulsa’s College of Law and discuss their thoughts during a private session moderated by Professor Janet Levit. For 25 years, Presidential Lecture series speakers have graciously agreed to meet with students, answer their questions and share insights from lives well lived.

UTulsa’s Presidential Lecture Series is sponsored by the Darcy O’Brien Endowment and supported by the Office of the Provost and Kendall College of Arts & Sciences. Thanks to generous supporters, all lectures are free and open to the public. To learn more about past speakers, sign up for emails on future events or make a gift to the program, please visit utulsa.edu/pls.

Speaking to the Rotary Club of Tulsa this week, UTulsa President Stacy Leeds reflected on the university's history, from its roots in Muskogee to its relocation to Tulsa in 1907.

"Tulsa recruited our university here, and Tulsa invested in it on purpose," Leeds said. "Its leaders believed that this city's future depended on the success of our university."

Drawing on examples from cities across the country, Leeds explored how universities can serve as anchor institutions and why strong partnerships between higher education, business, and civic leaders matter for long-term growth and opportunity.

She also discussed UTulsa's plans for growth, including a goal of expanding enrollment and a review of graduate and professional programs to ensure they are aligned with student and workforce needs.

Throughout her remarks, Leeds reflected on the shared history of Tulsa and UTulsa, highlighting the vision of the civic leaders who helped bring the university to Tulsa more than a century ago and the impact of that decision on the city's future.

Another ranking puts UTulsa at No. 1 in Oklahoma! 🏆

In WalletHub's 2027 rankings, UTulsa also ranked ahead of every higher education institution in Arkansas, Kansas, Colorado, Louisiana, Nebraska, New Mexico, North Dakota, and South Dakota, earning No. 82 nationally among 738 colleges and universities.

The recognition follows last month’s U.S. News & World Report rankings, which named TU a Top 75 private research university and Oklahoma’s best value in higher education.

And there’s more: TU is now the most affordable private research university in America’s heartland. A great time to be a Golden Hurricane 💙🌀👑

At The University of Tulsa, experiential learning means more than preparing students for their future careers. It means giving them the opportunity to build those careers while still in the classroom.

Led by Music Industry Professional-in-Residence Corey Taylor, Hurricane Records is officially launching as a hands-on practicum within UTulsa’s Arts, Culture & Entertainment Management program, connecting students with local artists and the business behind the music.

Through real-world projects spanning artist development, branding, music releases, merchandise design, playlist pitching, radio outreach and live event booking, students gain direct experience navigating the music industry while contributing to Tulsa’s growing creative community.

With guidance from industry professionals, including Grammy Award-winning producer and music executive Mack McKinney, students are building meaningful connections and developing the skills to make an impact beyond graduation.

Hurricane Records reflects UTulsa’s commitment to innovative, career-focused education and demonstrates what’s possible when classroom learning meets real-world industry experience.
