FROM THE LACROSSE FIELD TO THE MARINE CORPS

This month, Brandon Shaffner added another title to his résumé.

A former University of Montevallo lacrosse player, Brandon successfully completed Officer Candidates School, graduated from the University of Montevallo, and earned his commission as a Second Lieutenant in the United States Marine Corps.

Athletics help build discipline, toughness, and teamwork—but earning the title of Marine Officer requires an entirely different level of commitment. Through years of preparation, leadership development, and perseverance, Brandon met the challenge and joined the ranks of those entrusted to lead Marines.

Congratulations to 2ndLt Shaffner on this outstanding achievement. We are excited to see the impact he will make as he begins his career as a Marine Officer.
