Congratulations to Ryan Priest, a junior at the University of Alabama, on officially contracting with the United States Marine Corps through the Platoon Leaders Class (PLC) Program during our pool function!

Ryan has taken a significant step toward earning the title of Marine Officer, choosing to pursue the challenge of leadership while continuing his college education.

Through the PLC program, Ryan will have the opportunity to develop his leadership abilities, test his physical and mental limits, and prove himself at Officer Candidates School.

🇺🇸 BUILDING LEADERS. DEVELOPING MARINES.

Leadership is developed through preparation, discipline, and the ability to perform under pressure.

Officer Selection Team Tuscaloosa recently executed a pool function designed to challenge our future Marine Officers both physically and mentally.

The day began with a Physical Fitness Test (PFT), followed by the Obstacle Course, testing each candidate’s endurance, determination, and resilience.

Following the physical events, the Officer Selection Officer led a professional military education class on the OODA Loop (Observe, Orient, Decide, Act), emphasizing adaptability, critical thinking, and decisive leadership.

We were also privileged to welcome Capt Hodge, Executive Officer, who provided valuable mentorship and professional insight into the responsibilities and expectations of a Marine Officer.

The function concluded with the introduction of our new Human Resources Assistant (HRA), an important addition to the OST Tuscaloosa team and our continued mission of developing future leaders.

We don’t recruit future officers. We develop them.

⚖️ Marine lawyers aren’t afraid to get some before they get to work.

Major Lucas, Staff Judge Advocate for Marine Corps Recruiting Command and an Alabama-barred attorney, recently visited the University of Alabama School of Law—but her day started well before the legal panel.

Before stepping into the classroom, Maj Lucas joined our Alabama pool for PT, then spent time mentoring our future Marine Officers and sharing perspective from her career. 💪⚓️

Later that day, she represented the Marine Corps alongside fellow military attorneys during The University of Alabama School of Law’s JAG Day, giving students insight into what it means to serve as both an attorney and a commissioned officer. ⚖️🇺🇸

In the Marine Corps, being a lawyer doesn’t exempt you from being a Marine first.

Courtroom or PT field—the standard remains the standard.

OST Tuscaloosa took training to Marion Military Institute for company PT followed by a Leadership Reaction Course (LRC).

The LRC challenged our applicants to quickly assess problems, communicate a plan, and lead their teams through obstacles with limited time and resources—the same type of leadership fundamentals they’ll be expected to demonstrate at Officer Candidates School. 🧠⚓️

Every event is another opportunity to prepare, develop, and raise the standard before they ever step foot at Quantico.

We don’t wait until OCS to start developing Marine Officers.

Our OCC Law Candidate and barred attorney, Taylor Goodall, is officially aboard Marine Corps Base Quantico and beginning the challenge of earning the title United States Marine. ⚖️🦅🌎⚓

Taylor has already proven himself in the legal profession. Now comes a different test—one designed to evaluate the leadership, character, mental, and physical qualities required of a Marine Officer.
