10.1.26 The orchestra rehearsal scheduled for tonight will be held at the West Plains Civic Center instead of Cass Hall. We’ll meet in the Redbud/Gohn combined rooms near the backstage theater entrance. Rehearsal time will remain 6-8pm as normal, but we’ll be at the Civic Center instead of Cass Hall.

We're seeking musicians to join our performing ensembles! Whether you're a college student, an adult community member who wants to stay involved in music, or a high school student who desires an added challenge - there's a place for you at Missouri State West Plains!

Rehearsal begin the week of August 17-21. Minimum skill level required for membership.

🎻 Introducing the MSU-WP University Community Symphony Orchestra! 🎶

The Missouri State University–West Plains Music Department is excited to announce the launch of our University Community Symphony Orchestra—the newest addition to our growing family of performing ensembles!

Under the direction of Micah Boise, this ensemble will bring together talented musicians from across the region to rehearse, perform, and share a passion for orchestral music.

📅 Rehearsals: Thursdays | 6:00–8:00 p.m.
📍 Location: Cass Hall, Missouri State University–West Plains Campus (515 W Cass Ave)

The MSU-WP Community Symphony Orchestra will perform 2–3 concerts each semester, providing members the opportunity to share their musical talents with audiences throughout the region.

Who can join?
🎼 MSU-WP students
🎼 High school musicians
🎼 Adult community musicians

Whether you're continuing your musical journey or returning to your instrument after time away, we'd love to have you join us! Community members are welcome through a participation fee option, or you may enroll in the MSU-WP course MUS 176 for college credit.

Join us as we build a vibrant community orchestra that celebrates musical excellence, lifelong learning, and the joy of making music together. A minimum level of playing experience is required to ensure a successful experience for all members.

𝐌𝐒𝐔-𝗪𝐞𝐬𝐭 𝐏𝐥𝐚𝐢𝐧𝐬 𝐌𝐮𝐬𝐢𝐜 𝐃𝐞𝐩𝐚𝐫𝐭𝐦𝐞𝐧𝐭 𝐰𝐞𝐥𝐜𝐨𝐦𝐞𝐬 𝐌𝐢𝐜𝐚𝐡 𝐁𝐨𝐢𝐬𝐞

We are excited to welcome Micah Boise as the newest adjunct faculty member in the Missouri State University–West Plains Music Department!

Micah brings a wealth of experience in music education, performance, and private instruction. Having served as both a high school band and choir director, he has dedicated his career to inspiring students and helping them develop their musical abilities and lifelong appreciation for the arts. His extensive background in individual and group private instruction makes him a wonderful addition to our faculty.

⭐Micah's duties at MSU-WP includes:
🔹Teaching Piano, Music Theory, and Elective Courses
🔹Provide Applied Lessons
🔹Director of the University/Community Orchestra
🔹Asst. Director of the University/Community Band

🎹 Private Lesson Opportunities
In addition to his work with our students and community ensembles, Micah will also offer both individual and group private lessons on percussion, piano, strings, and a variety of other instruments, creating even more opportunities for musicians throughout our region to learn, grow, and excel.

We are thrilled to have his knowledge, enthusiasm, and passion for music education as part of our department, and we look forward to the impact he will make on our students, ensembles, and community.

It was great to be back with the West Plains Zizzer Pride Band tonight for their band camp concert! They performed so well and it was great to see many of my former students. Congratulations to my former student and current director Zane Johnson and assistant directors Melody Alford and AJ Haessly.

Tuesday evening we had our final Choir concert of the semester, and we had a strong crowd despite the weather! This event was held at the West Plains First United Methodist Church, and was sponsored by the West Plains Council on the Arts. Great job to all of our musicians!
