Being in exercise science has given me the drive to continue to stay active while in college and that has brought me to intramurals, where I have continued to play basketball to stay in shape. One class that stuck out to me during my freshman year was my Design and Innovation class with Kristyn Waits. I was not excited for this class because I had no idea how it pertained to my major, but after a couple weeks it turned into my favorite class that semester. To this day it is one class and one teacher that I was so thankful to have. This helped me realize that being a well-rounded student is needed and that I shouldn't just hyper focus on the classes that I think pertain to my major, but I should go into every class with an open mind and get the most out of it.

🌟 Professor Shout Out!! 🌟

Last semester, I took Exercise Physiology, and I was a bit nervous at first. But Dr. Rodgers made the learning experience amazing! This has been my favorite class at WSU by far. Anyone would be lucky to have Dr. Rodgers as a professor.

🌞 **Embrace the Warm Weather for Your Workouts!** 🌞

As the weather warms up, it's the perfect time to take your exercise routine outdoors! πŸŒ³πŸƒβ€β™‚οΈ Here are some exercise science-backed tips to make the most of it:

1. **Hydrate, Hydrate, Hydrate!** πŸ’§ Warmer temperatures mean you'll sweat more, so keep your hydration levels up to maintain performance and prevent dehydration.
2. **Adjust Your Intensity** πŸ‹οΈβ€β™€οΈ: The heat can be taxing on your body. Start with lower intensity workouts and gradually increase as your body adapts.
3. **Timing is Everything** ⏰: Aim for early morning or late evening workouts to avoid the peak heat of the day.
4. **Wear the Right Gear** πŸ‘Ÿ: Lightweight, breathable clothing can help keep you cool and comfortable.
5. **Listen to Your Body** πŸ§˜β€β™‚οΈ: Pay attention to signs of heat exhaustion like dizziness, headache, or excessive sweating. It's okay to take breaks and cool down.

Enjoy the sunshine and stay active! 🌞πŸ’ͺ

🌨️ **Winter Storm Alert for Wichita, KS!** 🌨️

Hey fitness enthusiasts! As we brace for the upcoming winter storm, let's not let the cold weather freeze our fitness goals! ❄️πŸ’ͺ

**Why Exercise in Cold Weather?**
1. **Boosts Immunity**: Staying active can help strengthen your immune system, which is crucial during cold and flu season
2. **Burns More Calories**: Your body works harder to stay warm, meaning you can burn more calories during your workout
3. **Improves Endurance**: Cold weather can enhance your endurance as your heart doesn't have to work as hard, and you sweat less

**Tips for Safe Winter Workouts:**
- **Layer Up**: Wear moisture-wicking fabrics to keep sweat away from your skin, add a layer of fleece, and top it off with a waterproof layer
- **Warm Up Properly**: Dynamic stretches like arm circles and high steps can help prevent injuries
- **Stay Hydrated**: Don't forget to drink water, even if you don't feel as thirsty

Remember, a little preparation can keep you safe and active, even in the coldest weather. Let's embrace the chill and keep moving, Wichita! πŸ’™πŸƒβ€β™‚οΈπŸƒβ€β™€οΈ
