While many students are preparing for exams, final-year Metallurgical Engineering student Bohlale Tshabalala is busy with her practicals.

We stepped into the lab with her to briefly see what Project Metallurgy involves, from crushing and grinding PGM ores to mixing them with chemicals to extract valuable metals.

This Tuesday, the spotlight is on Charles Mpho Selowa and Lily Nqata!

Eight distinctions each! The two FEBE Diploma in Electrical Engineering students were recognised at the Global Clinical Engineering Day 2026 event, held at B Braun on 21 October.

Charles won the Student of the Year Award, while Lily was named runner-up.

Beyond their academic achievements, both serve as class representatives for Clinical Engineering and Renewable Energy. Lily also mentors first-year Electrical Engineering students.
