A full room, vibrant conversations and exciting opportunities to connect! Our opening session brought together library and information professionals, researchers and thought leaders to network, exchange ideas and build new partnerships under this year’s theme: BE BOLD: The Next Chapter of Academic Libraries.
The session was chaired by Mimi Seyffert-Wirth, Director: Scholarly Communication and Marketing, Library and Information Service, Stellenbosch University.
The opening programme featured a welcome by Ellen Tise, an opening address by Prof Reggie Nel, and a keynote address by Prof Hussein Suleman on Scholarly Communication and the Future African Library.
The conversation continued with an inspiring panel discussion, Let’s Discuss the Next Chapter of Academic Libraries, moderated by Wouter Klapwijk, with panellists Prof Dr Claudia Lux, Kate Robinson, Dr Tshiamo Motshegwa and Dr Mark Hahnel.
Together, our speakers explored the evolving role of academic libraries in a changing scholarly landscape and the opportunities to shape their future through collaboration, innovation and bold thinking.
