SZYPURAARCHITECTS >>>> SYDNEY TOWN HALL PROJECT, 2000 !! ( walking down Queen Street, Wollahra, Sydney after inspecting the site, to my amazement I spied on an etching in a book store of the Town Hall in the mid 1800,s, on the top of the mountain ridge, in black and white . This was the inspiration to restore the meaning of the PLACE & SITE to match/respond to the today's built environment. The historical buildings on site would be illuminated on the two flanked buildings to raise their stature and predominance and to follow the built present horizon . The whole pedestrian precinct slightly raised would have large light slits to the underground world to bring back the memory of the ancient aboriginal burial site. This pedestrian platform would be detached from the historical buildings, due to respect and showcase the response as it was with the Pantheon in Rome!)
