✨The Faculty of Law at The British University in Egypt is pleased to welcome Professor Hossam Lotfy, Professor of Civil Law, Attorney at the Court of Cassation, and UNESCO Chair Professor for Copyrights and Neighboring Rights.

With an outstanding academic career spanning decades, Professor Lotfy has made significant contributions to the fields of Civil Law, Copyrights, and Neighboring Rights. He holds a Doctorate in Private Law from University of Paris and has received the State Incentive Award in Civil Law.

Professor Lotfy will contribute to the Faculty’s academic and research activities, sharing his extensive knowledge and experience with students while supporting the development of legal education in Egypt.

We are delighted to welcome Professor Hossam Lotfy to the Faculty of Law and look forward to benefiting from his expertise and valuable contributions. ⚖️

We are delighted to announce that our team from the Faculty of Law has reached the quarterfinals, securing a place among the Top 8 teams at the 35th Christof Heyns African Human Rights Moot Court Competition. 🎉

"Fostering International Academic Cooperation and Human Fraternity 🌍"
As part of its expanding network of international academic cooperation, the Faculty of Law at The British University in Egypt highlights the recent participation of its Dean, Prof. Ibrahim Salama, who served on the examining board for the defense of a master's thesis submitted at the Academic University College for Non-Violence and Human Rights.
Titled "The Document on Human Fraternity for World Peace and Living Together: The Contribution of Religious Heritage to Promoting a Culture of Non-Violence," the research critically explored the vital role of religions in combating violence and extremism, with a specific focus on the Document on Human Fraternity. The rich discussion of the thesis prompted many useful ideas on how academic hubs can follow up on the Fraternity Document.
Meanwhile, The British University in Egypt's Human Rights Research and Training Centre (HRRTC) is preparing to host the second edition of the Experiential Learning and Training Program for Young Faith Actors: Complementarity between Religion and Human Rights in March 2027.
This specialized program translates academic theory into community practice. It equips young faith actors and religious leaders with practical tools to promote inclusive, rights-based dialogue and sustain peaceful coexistence within their communities.

The Faculty of Law at The British University in Egypt is pleased to share a reflection from its Fourth Scientific Conference, “The Impact of Artificial Intelligence on Human Rights,” which brought together distinguished academics, legal professionals, and experts from Egypt and around the world. 🌍

Dr. Chinmay, Pro Vice Chancellor of DSVV University, reflected on the profound transformation brought by Artificial Intelligence, emphasizing that AI is no longer a technology of the distant future, but a defining force of the present, increasingly embedded in the infrastructure of human civilization.

As AI’s capabilities expand, so too does our collective responsibility to ensure that its power remains grounded in human rights, values, and dignity.

He underscored the vital role of academic institutions in working collectively to integrate these principles into academic programs preparing future generations not merely to engage with AI, but to shape its development responsibly and safeguard the future of humanity.

The British University in Egypt-Faculty of Law in International Human Rights Dialogue 🌎

We are proud to highlight the international
engagement of Prof. Ibrahim Salama, Dean of the Faculty of Law at The British University in Egypt, who delivered a series of lectures as a Distinguished Guest Lecturer in the LL.M./J.S.D. Program in Intercultural Human Rights at St. Thomas University College of Law, Miami.

Prof. Ibrahim Salama’s lectures addressed Human Rights Diplomacy: Recent Trends and Challenges, examining the interplay between international human rights law and diplomacy, non-discrimination and equality, freedom of religion or belief, freedom of expression and peaceful assembly, minority rights, and the role of dialogue and engagement in advancing human rights protection.
A central theme was the concept of “Human Rights Diplocacy” bringing together diplomacy and advocacy through peer learning, expertise, dialogue, confidence-building and constructive engagement.

His continued contribution to international human rights education and scholarship reflects the Faculty of Law’s commitment to academic excellence, international outreach, and meaningful participation in global legal discourse.
