🎉 Huge congratulations to our own Associate Professor and Teaching & Learning Evangelist, Dr Venus Chan! 🎉 Venus has been honoured with the prestigious Teaching Excellence Award by the Federation for Self-financing Tertiary Education – a well-deserved recognition that follows her earlier triumph with the President’s Award for Excellence in Inspirational Teaching by HKMU.

At MU, Venus specialises in pioneering the integration of AI and XR into language education, driven by her passion for Technology-Enhanced Language Learning and research-informed, learner-centred teaching. As principal investigator of multiple funded projects, Venus has developed innovative mobile apps, online platforms, and MOOCs that enhance interpreting, public speaking, and translation skills – transforming learning experiences for students across the globe 🌍

Bridging research and practice to create real impact, she - and in fact many other outstanding colleagues in our Department - are shaping the future of education ❤️

2026年6月12日，第十屆大學生人文學術研討會於香港教育大學圓滿舉行。本系中文榮譽文學士本科課程三位同學順利入選，積極參與匯報論文，展現扎實的學術功底。

其中，二年級吳雨潼同學以論文〈情至文生：論李煜詞任縱純真的抒情文質及詞史地位〉在80多篇參會論文中脫穎而出，榮獲「論文推薦獎」（Recommended Paper Award），殊堪嘉許！

本系副教授陳家愉博士近日接受香港經濟日報訪問📰，分享她對AI時代下專業翻譯的獨到見解💬🤖

都會大學人文社會科學院副院長（教與學）陳家愉認為「AI將完全取代繙譯」是公眾普遍存在的誤解，笑言早於十多年前Google繙譯出現時已有類似討論。她指，公眾誤解繙譯是「知道意思就好」層面，但專業繙譯價值在於人類獨有的文化理解、語氣拿捏及思考，在處理文化底蘊、弦外之音、語氣情感及複雜典故上，人類繙譯有不可取代的優勢。她指，一個中上水平的繙譯者普遍能超越字面的準確性，深入處理文化層面的意義，「繙譯你唔係淨係知個字，你係要知背後個文化。」
以她善長的粵劇繙譯為例，AI在處理經典、文言文及廣東話口語上常出錯，亦難以理解平仄、押韻等格律。另對字詞背後的典故、諺語、歇後語，乃至中文常省略主語的表達方式，均難以理解其真正意涵，故用AI繙譯後，需大量人工修改，後期編輯演變為日益重要的技能。
