About the Film:
A series of deaths suddenly occurs in the city. Police officer Wong Ming realizes that at the scene of each death, there appears the figure of a woman who collects garbage. In the course of investigation, Wong discovers that this woman, Lan Pui Ching (played by Josie Ho), has the mysterious ability to collect the souls of the accidental deaths from the collected garbage and help these souls to enter reincarnation. This all started with a story that happened to her 13 years ago. Meanwhile, the murders continue to happen. Lan Pui Ching deduces that these murders are related to a mysterious cult ritual, and she and Wong Ming will be the next victims of this ritual. Wong Ming decides to cooperate with Lan Pui Ching to find out the mastermind behind the scenes.
Directed by the Pang brothers, Danny Pang and Oxide Pang, this 97-minute film is a powerful blend of supernatural horror and crime, debuting worldwide at the 30th Bucheon International Fantastic Film Festival. It was also selected as the Midnight Section Opening Film at the Bangkok International Film Festival. The Mage will be officially released in Hong Kong cinemas on 8 October 2026.

๐ŸŽ‰ MFA Graduates Receive Major Prizes in National Creative Writing Contest

Three fresh graduates from our MFA in Creative Writing in English programme have received First, Second, and Third Prizes in the 12th National Creative Writing Contest in English (็ฌฌ12ๅฑ†ๅ…จๅœ‹่‹ฑ่ชžๅ‰ตๆ„ๅฏซไฝœๆฏ”่ณฝ). This highly competitive national competition attracts submissions from universities and student writers across China and is judged by panels of experts from leading institutions.

Our awardees are:

In collaboration with the HKU Admissions Office, a delegation led by Prof. John Wong, Associate Dean (Undergraduate), and Prof. Christophe Coupe, Programme Director of the HDT programme, along with our admission colleagues, recently embarked on a vibrant week of outreach and academic engagement in Delhi and Mumbai. The team connected with prestigious international schools, national education authorities, and other key stakeholders to deliver admissions talks, engaged in an AI+ Challenge competition, meet with principals and counsellors, and showcase the diverse opportunities HKUArts offers to undergraduates.
