In the course of its over half a century of service, the Faculty has periodically examined its mission and vision, to be constructively engaged in the community and the world. The Faculty prides itself on the illustrious scholastic tradition it has inherited from the founding educators including Chien Mu, Tang Chun-I, Mou Zhong-san and Mou Run-sun, as well as the unique role it plays in fostering

the University's goal of integrating tradition with modernity and bringing together China and the West. The Faculty, comprising 11 departments, 14 major programmes and 2 language centers, is well-positioned to attract a diverse and passionate faculty and students who are delighted in sustaining our finely-honed traditions of learning, teaching and research. 文學院自1963年成立。逾半個世紀以來，文學院適時審視其使命和願景，冀能貢獻社會以至世界。當年多位教育家包括錢穆、唐君毅、牟宗三及牟潤孫創院之初，已奠定了涓涓博雅的中國人文精神。文學院除了傳承先賢的學術英華，並孜孜不懈弘揚中文大學治學與育才的目標：糅合傳統與現代；融和中國與西方。

文學院屬下設有十一個學系，兩個語言中心，提供共十四項主修課程。
文學院基於資源、地利及學術的積澱，不同學術領域的學者及優秀的學生都樂意加入成為學院的一分子，投身教與學，鑽研學術。

目前文學院內的世界知名學者，包括有科大衛教授、梁元生教授、Simon Haines 教授、李歐梵教授、白先勇教授蒲慕洲教授及詩人北島教授。此外，文學院亦吸納了潛力豐沛的年輕學者，厚積薄發，秉持追求學術和創意。學院致力培養畢業生及在學的同學，在探求人文學科知識中，掌握應對未來實用的與理論的問題。

✨中大文學院與哲學系接待浙大哲學學院代表團

中大文學院日前接待浙江大學人文學部哲學學院代表團，展開為期兩天的學術交流，進一步推進兩校在人文學科的合作。

代表團與中大哲學系師生就兩校的學術架構、研究方向，以及中西哲學的重要思想家與經典議題交流。文學院副院長（研究）張寄冀教授及哲學系高級講師劉保禧博士分別主持分享會及學術研討，兩校學生踴躍參與討論。

訪問期間，代表團參觀中大校園、合一亭、大學圖書館等地方，認識大學的教研資源，感受校園融合自然、人文與學術的環境。代表團亦到訪香港文化博物館及漢語基督教文化研究所，了解香港流行文化、粵劇，以及漢語基督教文化的發展。

此次訪問為兩校未來的人才培育與持續合作奠定基礎。雙方期待於2027年春季在浙江大學再聚，繼續促進師生交流與學術合作。

The Faculty of Arts recently welcomed a delegation from the School of Philosophy under Zhejiang University’s Faculty of Humanities for a two-day academic exchange, further strengthening collaboration between the two institutions in the humanities.

The delegation met with faculty members and students from CUHK’s Department of Philosophy to exchange views on their academic structures, research interests, major thinkers, and key topics in Chinese and Western philosophy. Professor Zhang Jiji, Associate Dean (Research) and Dr. Lau Po-hei, Senior Lecturer in the Department of Philosophy, led the sharing session and academic seminar respectively. Students actively participated in the discussions.

The delegation visited the CUHK campus, including the Pavilion of Harmony and the University Library, to gain an overview of the University’s academic and research resources and experience its unique setting, where nature, culture, and learning come together. They also visited the Hong Kong Heritage Museum and the Institute of Sino-Christian Studies for insights into Hong Kong popular culture, Cantonese opera, and Sino-Christian culture.

The visit laid a solid foundation for future talent development and sustained collaboration between the two institutions. Both sides look forward to meeting again at Zhejiang University in spring 2027 and continuing to promote academic collaboration and student exchange.

Having earned his BSc and PhD in Physics, as well as his MA in Philosophy from CUHK, Dr. Chan brings a unique interdisciplinary perspective to the classroom. In teaching General Education courses such as "Logic" and "Philosophy of Science," he guides students to develop rigorous reasoning skills and the capacity for cross-disciplinary thinking.

Upholding the philosophy of "deeply believing in students' potential," Dr. Chan excels at breaking down complex and challenging topics into manageable, step-by-step stages. Through clear explanations and visual aids, he strives to provide a supportive and encouraging learning environment, helping students build confidence, stay curious, and enhance their overall learning experience while enjoying the journey of knowledge.

Since joining CUHK’s Department of Music in 2016, Professor Chan has been dedicated to the composition and research of Cantonese contemporary music. Together with his research team, he has helped bring Cantonese contemporary music to the international stage. They have also developed open-access online tools, including the 𝗖𝗮𝗻𝘁𝗼𝗻𝗲𝘀𝗲 𝗠𝗲𝗹𝗼𝗱𝘆 𝗚𝗲𝗻𝗲𝗿𝗮𝘁𝗼𝗿 and the 𝗖𝗮𝗻𝘁𝗼𝗻𝗲𝘀𝗲 𝗖𝗵𝗼𝗿𝗮𝗹 𝗠𝘂𝘀𝗶𝗰 𝗗𝗮𝘁𝗮𝗯𝗮𝘀𝗲, which have received more than 380,000 visits from over 36 countries and regions worldwide. These initiatives have effectively fostered cultural exchange and connections across regions, and their impact has been widely recognised.

✨中大文學院祝賀四位優秀學生榮獲2025-26年度芝蘭中國文化研究獎學金（芝蘭獎學金），包括庄沈韜（中國研究四年級）、陳鈺希（歷史系四年級）、梁慧淇（中國藝術-藝術史博士二年級）和吳启慧（文化研究博士二年級），以表揚他們在中國文化研究方面的卓越表現。

【榮登全球前十！中大文學院再創佳績】🎊

香港中文大學文學院在最新公佈的《美國新聞與世界報道》（U.S. News & World Report）2026–27年度全球大學學科排名中再創佳績！中大藝術與人文學科（Arts and Humanities）位列：

🌍 全球第九位
🏆 亞洲第一位

今年排名由去年的全球第十三位躍升四位至第九位，並且是中大連續第二年在此排名中位列亞洲第一！

這項國際排名評估來自100多個國家、超過2,250所高等學府，指標涵蓋學術聲譽、研究成果、論文引用影響力及國際科研合作等。

🎊中大文學院衷心祝賀中國語言及文學系蕭振豪教授榮獲2025年度校長模範教學獎。蕭教授專研中國古典文學，其課程既承襲傳統，亦具備啟發性，引領學生深化思辨與討論。

蕭教授相信，新一代學生必須培養數字人文能力與跨學科思維。透過「香港古典文學散步」及數字人文工作坊等活動，他讓同學在靈活輕鬆的環境中接觸數字人文科技，學習將古典文獻研究與大數據方法結合，拓展文本研究的廣度，並降低學習門檻。

他深信教育具有雙重目的：一是引領學生探索廣博深邃的學術世界；二是建立具備支援的學習群體，讓知識變得平易近人。

👏🏻CUHK Arts warmly congratulates Professor Siu Chun-ho of the Department of Chinese Language and Literature on receiving the Vice-Chancellor’s Exemplary Teaching Award 2025. Specialising in classical Chinese literature, Professor Siu offers courses that are rooted in tradition and intellectually inspiring, guiding students to deepen their critical thinking and discussion.

Professor Siu believes that the new generation of students must develop digital humanities skills and interdisciplinary thinking. Through initiatives such as the Hong Kong Classical Literature Tours and digital humanities workshops, he enables students to explore digital humanities tools in a flexible setting, connect classical textual studies with big data methods, broaden the scope of textual research, and lower barriers to learning.

He also believes that education has a twofold purpose: to guide students in exploring the vast and profound world of knowledge, and to build a supportive learning community that makes knowledge more approachable.

The Faculty will continue to provide teaching resources and fully support academic staff in advancing high-quality humanities education that keeps pace with the times.

有別於以往，今年比賽的作品形式不再局限於短片拍攝。同學可自由選擇以下形式，創作具個人風格的作品：
文字（中／英，150字以內）；
相片（最多10張）；
音樂（最長1分鐘）；
影片（最長1分鐘）或
插畫（最多5張）。

作品內容可圍繞那些令你留下深刻印象、帶來啟發，並幫助你認識自己、他人、社會及世界的人與事，包括但不限於：

Unlike previous years, submissions are no longer limited to short videos. You are welcome to express your story in any creative format, including:
text (max.150 words);
photographs (max. 10 pcs);
music (max. 1 min);
videos (max. 1 min);
illustrations (max. 5 pcs); or a combination of these, to showcase your personal style.

Your work may focus on people or experiences that left a deep impression on you, inspired you, or helped you better understand yourself, others, society, and the world, such as:

💡Participation in overseas exchange programs, internships, field studies, volunteer work, or community service projects;
💡Books or articles that have been read;
💡Films, TV series, stage plays, dance performances, concerts, or exhibitions that have been watched or attended;

CUHK’s Faculty of Arts has recently signed an MoU with the Faculty of Arts and Humanities at Zhejiang University, marking a new chapter in humanities collaboration.

Key initiatives are already underway, including a ✨𝘀𝗵𝗼𝗿𝘁-𝘁𝗲𝗿𝗺 𝘀𝘁𝘂𝗱𝗲𝗻𝘁 𝘃𝗶𝘀𝗶𝘁 𝗽𝗿𝗼𝗴𝗿𝗮𝗺𝗺𝗲, with the first cohort of ZJU students visiting CUHK this summer, and a ✨𝗯𝗶𝗲𝗻𝗻𝗶𝗮𝗹 𝗔𝗿𝘁𝘀 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝗛𝘂𝗺𝗮𝗻𝗶𝘁𝗶𝗲𝘀 𝗙𝗲𝘀𝘁𝗶𝘃𝗮𝗹, planned for 2027–28 at CUHK campus.

Through student exchange and academic collaborations, both institutions aim to strengthen cross-cultural learning and advance humanities scholarship together.
