University-Regional Partnership: RCMI Welcomes Delegation from Garze, Sichuan

On 15 October 2026, the Research Centre for Chinese Medicine Innovation (RCMI) was honored to welcome a high-level delegation from the Garze Tibetan Autonomous Prefecture, Sichuan Province, as suggested by the Mainland Development Office.

The visit was led by Ms. Xie Hongxia, Deputy Secretary-General of the People's Government of Garze Tibetan Autonomous Prefecture. The RCMI team, represented by Associate Director Dr. Daniel Mok and RCMI Member Dr. Zhang Huan, engaged in productive discussions on future collaboration.

🔹 Knowledge Exchange: Dr. Mok shared insights into RCMI’s research focus and ongoing initiatives.

🔹 Strategic Focus: The dialogue centered on learning advanced practices in education management, talent training, and technology transfer.

🔹 Key Cooperation Areas:
✅ Tibetan-Chinese Medicine Integration: Exploring R&D opportunities for traditional medicine.

New Horizons & New Governance: Shaping the Future of Universities in the AI Era 🤝🎓

The RCMI team was honored to attend the Ningbo University 40th Anniversary & 30th Anniversary of the Tri-merger in Ningbo on 23–24 October 2026.

🎉 Congratulations to Ningbo University on these magnificent milestones!

Led by VP(R) Prof. Xiang-dong Li and RCMI Director Prof. Man-sau Wong, our delegation, including RCMI member Dr. Chen Sibao, participated in key strategic activities:

🔹 Research Exchange: The delegation visited the New Drug Technology Research Institute Laboratory to explore joint research opportunities.

🔹 Strategic Partnership: On 24 October, Prof. Li signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with Ningbo University to foster future collaboration.

🔹 High-Level Dialogue: We joined the “Dialogue Among Chinese and Foreign University Presidents,” a flagship event of the anniversary celebration.

🔹 AI & Innovation: The dialogue focused on the theme “New Horizons · New Governance: Reshaping the Role and Institutional Reform of Universities in the AI Era.” We participated in the roundtable forum to share insights on how AI is transforming higher education governance.

Strengthening TCM Innovation Across the Greater Bay Area 🌏🌿

We are pleased to share that Prof. Simon Lee attended the 8th Greater Bay Area Traditional Chinese Medicine Inheritance, Innovation, and Development Conference held in Macau from September 22, 2026.

During the conference, Prof. Lee signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) with Dr. Huang, representing the Affiliated Integrated Chinese and Western Medicine Hospital of Guangdong Pharmaceutical University (Zhongshan Chen Xinghai Integrated Chinese and Western Medicine Hospital).

The MOU aims to conduct collaborative basic and clinical research in TCM focusing on:
🔹 Musculoskeletal disorders
🔹 Stroke rehabilitation
🔹 Neuroprotection
🔹 Sleep and mood disorders
🔹 Tumor treatment

The joint objective is to apply for the 8th GBA TCM Conference Collaborative Project.

The conference also featured TCM and Chinese Medicine sub-forums, where experts from Guangdong, Hong Kong, and Macau shared the latest research and clinical practices to promote resource sharing and collaborative innovation across the region.

Prof. Xu (from the Institute of Materia Medica, CAMS & PUMC) shared how Medicinal Plant Taxonomy is changing the game for "Medicine-and-Food Homologous" substances.
