Dawit, an Economics student from Ethiopia enrolled in the CUHK-Tsinghua University Dual Undergraduate Degree Programme, chose CUHK to experience two incredible campuses and build academic networks in both Hong Kong and Beijing. From making friends over coffee at Morningside College to discovering Hong Kong’s dim sum and milk desserts with his roommate, he loves how the campus community shares the same culture of warmth and mutual respect he grew up with back home.

中大「珊瑚學院基地」於10月24日「國際氣候行動日」正式開幕！基地包含全港首個及唯一專門透過有性繁殖培育及養育幼珊瑚的室內珊瑚育苗設施，現已培育逾4,500株幼珊瑚。基地結合科研、教育及公眾參與，並配合《中大2026–2030策略計劃》，攜手夥伴推廣海洋保育，創造具實質影響力的成果。

「珊瑚學院」由中大生命科學學院助理教授、有「珊瑚媽媽」之稱的崔佩怡教授於2018年創辦，而新開幕的「珊瑚學院基地」則是學院首個實體基地。設施將大幅改善幼珊瑚的繁殖環境，進一步拓展公眾參與並提升環境教育成效。

CUHK officially launched the Coral Academy Hub on 24 October, International Day of Climate Action! The Hub houses Hong Kong’s first and only indoor coral nursery facility dedicated to breeding and rearing juvenile corals through sexual propagation, and has already nurtured over 4,500 juvenile corals. Integrating scientific research, education, and community engagement, the Hub acts in support of the CUHK Strategic Plan 2026–2030 to deliver impactful outcomes and promote marine conservation.

The Coral Academy was founded in 2018 by Assistant Professor from the School of Life Sciences at CUHK, Professor Apple Chui Pui-yi, who is known as the "Coral Mom". The newly opened Coral Academy Hub serves as the Academy's first physical base. The facility will significantly optimise the breeding environment for juvenile corals, further enhance coral cultivation, expand public participation and significantly strengthen environmental education.

residents to create the Amani Kibera Book House, involving community members in both its design and

One of the most valuable parts of university life is building international networks and growing alongside peers from all over the globe.

Rene, a PhD student in Sociology from Mexico, has truly made CUHK his home. He even has his regular order at the campus canteen and orders his food in Cantonese! For him, Hong Kong's unique balance between tradition and modernity, combined with CUHK's encouraging atmosphere for big thinkers to grow at their own pace, makes this journey deeply rewarding.

在大學裡最珍貴的收獲之一，往往是建立起跨越國界的人脈網絡，與來自不同文化背景的人共同學習成長。

來自墨西哥的社會學博士生 Rene，早已把中大融入了他的日常。他不只在校園餐廳有了自己的指定菜單，還能順暢地用廣東話點餐。對他來說，香港傳統與現代交融的獨特魅力，加上中大鼓勵大膽創新、按自己節奏探索的氛圍，正是這趟學習之旅最吸引人的地方。

中大一直致力推動可持續發展、氣候教育及跨界協作，由中大前期創業育成中心、賽馬會氣候變化博物館（MoCC）及非牟利初創機構數碼共同體主辦，並由中大建築學院協辦的專題展覽的「Rootelligence：氣候公義 x 人工智能 x 青年主導城市未來」專題展覽現正於MoCC舉行，展期至2026年11月21日。

展覽以人工智能、氣候公義及青年參與為主題，透過社區研究成果、互動體驗及3D打印作品，呈現不同世代與持份者共同構思未來城市的創新實踐。配合展覽舉行的專題研討會日前圓滿結束，匯聚了政策制定者、研究員、建築師、中小學校長、學生、環保倡議者及商界代表，共同探討如何結合教育、科技、創新創業及城市規劃的力量，推動氣候行動，建構更具韌性及包容性的未來社會。

CUHK has long been dedicated to promoting sustainable development, climate education and cross-sector collaboration. Organised by CUHK Pre-Incubation Centre, CUHK Jockey Club Museum of Climate Change (MoCC) and non-profit start-up Digital Common(s) Lab, and co-organised by the CUHK’s School of Architecture, the thematic exhibition “Rootelligence: Climate Equity x AI x Youth-led Urban Futures” is currently on display at MoCC through 21 November 2026.

Centred on artificial intelligence, climate equity and youth participation, the exhibition showcases innovative practices wherein diverse generations and stakeholders co-create visions for future resilient cities using community-based research, interactive experiences and 3D-printed works.

A symposium held in conjunction with the exhibition recently concluded with great success. This event brought together policymakers, researchers, architects, school principals, students, environmental advocates and business representatives to explore how education, technology, innovation and entrepreneurship, and urban planning can converge to advance climate action and build a more resilient and inclusive future.

首屆「CUHK LEAP 中大科博薈」已於10月9至10日在康本國際學術園圓滿舉行！今屆活動以「創新啟迪未來」為主題，匯聚中大學者、研究人員、學生、校友及業界領袖，共同見證科研成果從實驗室邁向產業應用。

活動現場氣氛熱烈，45支創業團隊展示「人工智慧與數據科學」、「生命科學與醫療健康」、「先進製造與新能源」及「教育科技與社會創新」最新創科成果。參觀者可在互動展示區親身體驗頂尖技術，亦可參加多場業界領袖專題講座及「中大創業大賽」決賽現場，與各界一同探索創科未來。

CUHK held the inaugural "CUHK LEAP" at the Yasumoto International Academic Park on 9–10 October. Under the theme "Innovation to Impact", the event brought together CUHK scholars, researchers, students, alumni and industry leaders to witness research achievements advancing from the lab towards industrial application.

The exhibition floor was filled with energy as 45 entrepreneurial teams showcased the latest innovation and technology achievements in Artificial Intelligence & Data Science, Life Sciences & Healthcare, Advanced Manufacturing & New Energy, and Educational Technology & Social Innovation. Visitors could experience cutting-edge technologies firsthand in the interactive showcase area, and attend thematic talks by industry leaders as well as the CUHK Entrepreneurship Competition Grand Final to explore the future of innovation with all sectors.

學中醫靠的是死記硬背嗎？中大中醫學院院長林志秀教授認為，關鍵在於「中醫思維」與實踐經驗。學院自 1998 年創立以來，培育了逾 1,910 名中醫人才，一直堅持「重視傳統、重視經典、重視臨床」：

啟發式教學：透過案例討論閱讀《黃帝內經》等經典，將古人觀察套用至現代臨床。
臨床實踐：學生一年級起開始見習訓練，累積 58 週實習經驗，把抽象的中醫概念化為實戰能力。
結合現代醫學：八成中醫配合兩成西醫課程，讓學生能閱讀 X 光及化驗報告，奠定專業基礎。

Is studying Chinese medicine all about rote memorisation? Prof. Lin Zhixiu, Director of the School of Chinese Medicine at CUHK, believes the key lies in mastering "thinking in Chinese medicine" and gaining clinical experience.

Since its establishment in 1998, the School has trained over 1,910 Chinese medicine professionals while remaining rooted in its core philosophy: "valuing tradition, classical texts, and clinical practice."

Inquiry-based Teaching: Students engage in case analyses and discussions on classical texts like the Yellow Emperor’s Inner Canon, applying ancient observations to modern clinical contexts.

Early Clinical Exposure: Starting observational clinical training from Year 1, students complete 58 weeks of clinical placement to transform textbook concepts into practical, real-world skills.

Integrating Western Medicine: The curriculum balances 80% Chinese medicine with 20% Western medicine, enabling students to interpret X-rays and laboratory reports for comprehensive professional development.
