UCC alum Seán Ronayne will take to the stage at the Fair Seas World Ocean Week Conference in City Hall on June 3. Renowned for his work recording the sound of every bird species in Ireland, Seán will share a powerful coastal soundscape highlighting both the beauty of Ireland’s seas, and how much we stand to lose without stronger marine protection.

🎓 BComm Class of 1981 – 45th Anniversary Reunion

It was wonderful to welcome back the BComm Class of 1981 to UCC to celebrate their 45th anniversary. Alumni travelled from the Netherlands, UK, Derry, Kerry, Donegal, Limerick and Dublin, as well as Cork to reconnect, reminisce and celebrate lasting friendships forged at UCC.

We’re looking forward to welcoming UCC Alumni and Friends in New York to our forthcoming networking evening, hosted by Professor John O’Halloran, President of UCC. This is a great opportunity to reconnect with fellow graduates, make new professional connections, and strengthen the UCC community in the city. A new free exhibition at Library tells the powerful, behind‑the‑scenes story of the 1916 Proclamation, focusing on the people, risks and decisions that made its printing possible. Printed in Defiance: Making the 1916 Proclamation marks the 110th anniversary of its printing and features an original first‑issue copy, generously donated by Liam and Kaye Cronin. Open to the public from 24 April–13 September 2026, the exhibition highlights courage, skilled labour and conservation that ensure this fragile document endures for future generations.

An inspiring evening brought alumni and friends together at UCC this week for a compelling talk on “The Pivotal Role Women Have Played in AI Development.”

The guest speaker, Siobhán O’Leary, CEO of The Institute of Applied AI, delivered a fascinating exploration of women’s contributions to artificial intelligence across history, from Ada Lovelace’s pioneering work in the 1800s, through the codebreakers of Bletchley Park and the ENIAC Six programmers of the 1940s, to the groundbreaking achievements of Margaret Hamilton, Grace Hopper, Fei‑Fei Li, Timnit Gebru, and Joy Buolamwini.

The talk was followed by an engaging Q&A, adding further depth to the presentation. The event was proudly hosted by the UCC Women Graduates’ Association.
