DCU in the Community

DCU in the Community DCU in the Community builds stronger communities through education and engagement. DCU in the Community is a bridge to higher education.

As part of its Civic Engagement Strategy Dublin City University in June 2008 partnered with Ballymun Regeneration Ltd (BRL) to set up an outreach centre based in the Shangan Road neighbourhood in the heart of Ballymun. Our aim is to broaden access and participation in higher education among Ballymun and North Dublin residents. DCU in the Community brings the opportunities of higher education to pe

ople who have not engaged with it before. It recognises the individual talents of each student and offers a flexible curriculum based on the student's needs and ambitions. The outreach centre will also promote sustainable community development and serve as a bridge to the resources of DCU and the wider higher education system. The centre also acts as a 'drop-in' centre for all learners seeking information and advice in relation to accessing further education options.

Join us on Monday, 22nd September as DCU in the Community, together with DCU Sport and the School of Health & Human Performance, hosts a special evening to help Dublin Marathon runners get race-ready.

Many Dubliners, north and south, take on this great challenge every year. Through our team of sports experts, we wish to offer advice and guidance where possible to help runners achieve their goals.

On the night, experts will discuss nutrition, strength and conditioning, injury prevention and sports psychology. Furthermore, demonstrations of useful routines and strength exercises will be given to ensure this year's marathon runners' bodies are in tip-top condition.

This is a completely free, in-person event, taking place on DCU Glasnevin campus. Tea, coffee and refreshments will be provided.

This evening will also be a night to socialise and meet your running peers; those who are seasoned veterans, those who are running their first marathon, and those who are running to raise awareness or fundraise for a great cause.
