As Ireland’s leading medical school, the UCD School of Medicine offers undergraduate degree programmes in Medicine (direct entry and graduate entry), Physiology, Radiography and Biomedical Health & Life Sciences. The School has over forty graduate taught programmes ranging from certificate to masters degree awards and a further twenty graduate research programmes at masters or doctoral level with

over 400 graduate students. Our portfolio of biomedical, clinical and translational research has over 75 principal investigators, 50 post-doctoral scientists and 250 doctoral students with grants under management worth approximately €75 million. Together with Mater Misericordiae University Hospital and St Vincent’s Healthcare Group, the School has established Ireland's first academic health centre, Dublin Academic Medical Centre and is the academic partner in the emerging Ireland East Hospital Group, a network of 11 acute hospitals. Our clinical training programmes are delivered at six major Dublin teaching hospitals and across the country through sixteen affiliated acute, general or specialist hospitals. The School also has a nationwide primary care clinical training network comprising over 190 general practitioners. Our large and experienced academic faculty, innovative programmes and state-of-the-art facilities provide a stimulating education and research environment for students. These academic activities aim to improve patient healthcare by purposefully linking treatment, teaching and research capability.

PhD Studentship in Statistical Methodologies for Hybrid Control Arms in Clinical Trials at the UCD Clinical Research Centre.

Applicants should have a 1st or 2:1 Level 8 degree in statistics or a related computational discipline, or alternatively, a degree in health sciences with subsequent formal training in statistics.

The project will establish systematic approaches for evaluation of data compatibility between the concurrent and external control data, method selection and sensitivity analysis. The project will deliver a practical, operational toolkit to support the prospective design and regulatory acceptance of hybrid control trials.

🎙️🩺 Ep4, S6 MGA Podcast - Commandant (Dr) Fiachra Lambe was the first person to complete the pioneering "Military Medicine GP Training Scheme" in Ireland. He is a registered Specialist in both General Practice and Military Medicine.
Through his work in the military, Comdt Lambe contributed to OP FORTITUDE (the Defence Forces response to the Covid-19 pandemic) as well as two UN Peacekeeping deployments in Lebanon and Syria.

Researchers in the UCD School of Medicine are asking a simple but urgent question: How can we support young people’s mental health in a way that is both human and scalable in a rapidly changing digital world?

Led by Professors Fiona McNicholas and Blánaid Gavin, this interdisciplinary programme brings together clinical practice, developmental science and digital innovation.
