Galway Technical Institute GTI is one of the leading colleges of Further Education in Ireland, providing QQI Level 5 & 6 courses GTI’s underlying philosophy is about learning together.

At GTI, courses are designed to be of immediate and practical use in the workplace or as a stepping stone to further study and higher qualifications. Everything our students learn will be valuable to them throughout their lives. Our Applied Learning approach is designed to enable students learn more effectively in real-life situations. Applied Learning provides our students with learning experiences that involve solving problems that are based on real-life situations. This involves learning the role of a sound engineer, in GTI's state of the art sound recording studio, film editor or production co-ordinator at CladdaTV. It may also involve working as a Beauty Therapist in GTI’s Poise Salon, or as a designer in GTI’s Annual Fashion Showcase. Each department has its own unique real-life, real-time production/event/project. By bringing the real world into the classroom and the classroom into the real world, Applied Learning has become the most effective and exciting way to learn the key skills required for the 21st Century. This is centred on learner activity, collaborative learning and critically, learning to learn. Facilities at GTI include recording studios, creative digital media laboratories, hairdressing and beauty salons, furniture design workshops, fashion studios plus a wide range of specialist IT facilities. Our European Links provide work placements abroad for over 100 GTI students annually. Students currently travel to France, Portugal, Spain, Finland, Italy, Turkey, Scotland and the Canary Islands. These placements are fully funded and afford students the opportunity to gain valuable work related training in institutions and enterprises throughout Europe. GTI’s mission is to develop the knowledge, skills and competencies of our learners by designing programmes that are innovative and of high quality, and to deliver the programmes in a learning environment that reflects the complexity and challenge of a changing world.

The Accounting Technician Apprenticeship at GTI is a two-year, work-based learning programme leading to a nationally recognised QQI Level 6 qualification and professional membership with Accounting Technicians Ireland (ATI).

The day was filled with problem-solving, bonding, and fun challenges — all designed to strengthen teamwork, communication, and resilience as students prepare for upcoming assignments & projects. 👏

A huge well done to all involved, and many thanks to the Petersburg team for leading these sessions. Such great energy, teamwork, and memories made!

Developed through a partnership between Atlantic Technological University, Galway and Roscommon ETB and Galway Technical Institute, this innovative programme allows students to begin their BSc (Hons) Software & Technology at GTI before progressing to ATU to complete their degree.

Sothys is an exclusive French professional skincare brand, developed in Paris over 80 years ago. 🇫🇷

Jessica introduced our staff to the professional range, providing a fantastic opportunity to learn more about these industry-leading products.

Our Beauty students will also have the opportunity to work with Sothys products, gaining valuable hands-on experience with professional skincare, preparing them for working with such products in the Beauty sector. 💆‍♀️

Another great day of Student Inductions at GTI! 🎉

Today we continued welcoming students onsite as they got to know their courses, their new surroundings and the people they’ll be learning alongside throughout the year.

From exploring our specialist workshops, salons and grooming studio to getting familiar with college facilities, today was all about meeting, connecting and getting ready for the year ahead. 🎓

There was plenty of opportunity to get involved too, with team-building activities, ice-breakers and introductions helping students settle in.

A huge welcome to our students from across the Arts and Social Sciences, Applied Health Sciences, Business & Law, Sport, Technology, IT & Computing, Media, Beauty and Hairdressing departments! 👋 We look forward to working with you all! 💙
