Congratulations to two of Alfred University's own!

Angus Powers, Professor of Glass and Glass Area Head in the School of Art & Design, and S.K. Sundaram, Inamori Professor of Materials Science and Engineering, have been honored among the SUNY system's most distinguished faculty ranks.

Professor Powers received the SUNY Chancellor's Award for a Distinguished Teaching Professorship, and Professor Sundaram earned the Chancellor's Award for a Distinguished Professorship, joining the SUNY Distinguished Academy — the highest faculty distinction across the entire State University of New York system.

Both were celebrated this spring at Alfred University's Honors Convocation, recognizing years of dedication to teaching, mentorship, and advancing their fields at the New York State College of Ceramics at Alfred University.

Congratulations, Professor Powers and Professor Sundaram — Alfred is proud to call you ours!

Moment of Truth.

After hours of shaping, carving, and refining, Ukrainian-born ceramic artist Janina Myronowa carefully loads her latest work into the kiln with the help of kiln tech specialist Shawn Murrey.

Janina has spent the last 4 weeks creating pieces over 5 feet tall! This is where all of the hard work meets it's moment of truth - getting it to the kiln.
