This October, experience August Wilson's Jitney in a unique production staged in Italian with English over-titles.

Join us as the Department of World Languages, Literatures & Cultures brings one of America's most celebrated plays to the stage at Auburn University.

War Damn Italian!

This week, Gov. Kay Ivey announced a major expansion by Italian manufacturer 2A USA, bringing new investment and jobs to our community. The news is a reminder that Italian language and cultural knowledge can open doors in an increasingly global workforce. The company's Auburn expansion reflects the strong relationship between Alabama and Italian industry.

Congratulations to Morgan Sims, College of Liberal Arts Graduation Marshal for Summer Commencement!

A Journalism major with minors in Business and Spanish, Morgan has combined her passion for storytelling with a commitment to connecting with people from all backgrounds.

As a Spanish minor, Morgan expanded her global perspective through study abroad in Spain, where she connected with international students and gained a deeper appreciation for cultural differences and shared experiences. She says she chose to study Spanish because she wants to "connect with people from all backgrounds while learning the skills and processes needed to create the greatest impact."

We're proud to celebrate Morgan's achievements and wish her all the best as she begins her career in journalism and community-focused reporting.

👏 Congratulations to Dr. Giovanna Summerfield on the publication of her article, “Sicilian Women and La 'Merica,” in the internationally recognized journal Chronica Mundi (Vol. 20, 2026).

Big congratulations to Jaycie Clapp!

While studying abroad in Paris with WLLC earlier this month, Jaycie attended a special reception at the U.S. Embassy. The event celebrated 250 years of Franco-American friendship and marked the unveiling of a new exhibit honoring the historic partnership.

Jaycie received the invitation as a recipient of the Benjamin A. Gilman International Scholarship, a prestigious scholarship sponsored by the U.S. Department of State that supports American students studying abroad.

We're so proud of Jaycie and all she has accomplished!

What an incredible summer in Costa Rica!

Our Auburn students recently completed their study abroad experience at the University of Costa Rica's West Campus in San Ramón, where they strengthened their Spanish language skills through cultural immersion, academic coursework, and meaningful connections with the local community.

Earlier this month, scholars gathered in Alghero, Italy for an unforgettable blend of academic exchange and cultural immersion at the 6th Annual Mediterranean Studies Symposium!

Thanks to the incredible leadership of our own Giovanna Summerfield, attendees were able to enjoy exploring red coral craftsmanship, sharing folklore in its original languages, and discovering the rich connections between scholarship, place, and community.
