We’re launching a new school-based alumni chapter, and we want you to be part of it!

Join fellow School of Public Health graduates Thursday, Sept. 24, from 5:30-7 p.m. CT in the College of Health Sciences Lobby at Samford University. Learn about the chapter’s mission, discover ways to get involved and reconnect with fellow alumni.

Eight medical students experienced public health beyond the classroom during the inaugural summer residency for Samford’s Master of Public Health program. Over three weeks, students engaged with healthcare organizations and community partners, explored Alabama and experienced campus life while gaining a deeper understanding of how culture and social determinants shape health outcomes.

🌟 Collaboration across the Samford University College of Health Sciences was on display at the UAB Center for Interprofessional Education and Simulation's 8th Annual Interprofessional Healthcare Symposium.

Faculty and students from McWhorter School of Pharmacy, Moffett & Sanders School of Nursing and the School of Health Professions presented the poster, "Enhancing Dementia Knowledge, Awareness, and Sensitivity through Interprofessional Training," which earned the Interprofessionalism in Action Poster Award.

Representing Samford were Kim Sanders-Davey, incoming physician assistant student Gracie Berthiaume, Patty Jumbo-Lucioni, Kristen Johnston and Amy Broeseker.

Congratulations to nutrition and dietetics faculty members Emily Bourne, PhD, and Ashley Licata '13, PhD, who were recognized by the Birmingham District Dietetic Association for their outstanding contributions to the profession. Bourne was named Outstanding Dietitian of the Year, while Licata received the Recognized Young Dietitian of the Year Award. We're proud to celebrate this well-deserved recognition!
