The School of Health Professions includes a vast array of specialties and fields of study that make up the majority of health-related careers. The school is made up of four departments: Cardiopulmonary Sciences,

Communication Sciences and Disorders, Kinesiology and Physical Therapy. To meet the growing demand for highly skilled, compassionate health care providers, we are working to add a number of new degree options, both undergraduate and graduate.

Today, we welcomed our newest graduate students to campus. Connections were made and fellowship was shared among our 50 physical therapy, 36 physician assistant and 28 speech-language pathology students.

We are excited to see how this class will embody our values of scholarship, service and professionalism as they prepare to serve others in their chosen fields. Welcome, Bulldogs!

Join us for Late to the Party: A Night of Learning and Connection Around Late-Identified Hearing Loss on Sept. 24 at Samford University.

Hosted by the Listening and Spoken Language Focused Study Initiative (LSL-FSI), this free event will bring together practitioners, educators and families for a panel discussion focused on late-identified hearing loss.

Following the panel, stay for the book launch celebration of Late to the Party: Extraordinary Stories of Hope Following Late-Identified Hearing by Valerie James Abbott, featuring stories of children with late-identified hearing loss and the families who love them.

Samford University’s 2026 Doctor of Physical Therapy graduates achieved a 100% first-time pass rate on the National Physical Therapy Examination (NPTE).

From classroom learning and simulation to hands-on clinical experiences, Samford DPT students are prepared with the knowledge, skills and confidence to step into the profession and serve their patients and communities.

🌟 Collaboration across the Samford University College of Health Sciences was on display at the UAB Center for Interprofessional Education and Simulation's 8th Annual Interprofessional Healthcare Symposium.

Faculty and students from McWhorter School of Pharmacy, Moffett & Sanders School of Nursing and the School of Health Professions presented the poster, "Enhancing Dementia Knowledge, Awareness, and Sensitivity through Interprofessional Training," which earned the Interprofessionalism in Action Poster Award.

Representing Samford were Kim Sanders-Davey, incoming physician assistant student Gracie Berthiaume, Patty Jumbo-Lucioni, Kristen Johnston and Amy Broeseker.

Fitness. Data. Performance. ⚽

Our women's soccer team spent time with SamFit and Performance and Applied Sport Science (MSPASS) graduate students this summer, completing DXA body composition scans and VO₂ max testing.

The results give athletes and coaches valuable insights into body composition, aerobic fitness and athlete load monitoring, helping athletes train smarter and perform at their best.
