The IEEE Student Branch at Southern Illinois University Edwardsville (SIUE) hosted its Fall 2026 Professional Networking Event on October 2 at the Fowler Student Design Center.

The event brought together engineering students, industry professionals, and recent alumni for an opportunity to connect, explore career paths, and learn about opportunities in engineering and technology.

A special thank you to representatives from Ameren, Boeing, BioMérieux, GFT, Littelfuse|Basler, LUZCO, McClure Engineering, and Mesa Associates for taking the time to engage with our students, share their professional experiences, and offer valuable career insights.

We appreciate everyone who helped make this event possible and look forward to creating more opportunities for students to connect with industry professionals!

Meet Stephen Duda, PE, an instructor who brings 35 years of engineering and construction experience into the SIUE classroom.

Before joining SIUE, Duda worked with a general contractor, an architectural firm, and a consulting engineering firm specializing in design-build construction. His experience spans HVAC, construction, and building-services engineering, giving students the opportunity to learn from someone who has seen projects from several sides of the industry.

At SIUE, industry experience does not stay outside the classroom. It helps shape the way students learn.

SIUE’s ITE Student Chapter attended the 2026 MOVITE Annual Conference, competing in the Traffic Bowl Competition & Student Safety Awareness Campaign Competition, & attended technical sessions and networking.

SIUE earned the MOVITE School of the Year Award, recognizing student engagement & our Civil Engineering Department and School of Engineering. Thanks to HLR & ITE Gateway Section for supporting our students! 🎉
