Event: Cougar Wellness Day

Time: 10:30 a.m. - 2:30 p.m.
Location: Instructional Gym, Vadalabene Center

This event will provide health promotion education and resources on topics including nutrition, disease prevention, mental health, wellness, and healthy lifestyle practices, and MORE. The goal is to engage SIUE students, faculty, staff, and community members in learning about ways to improve their overall health and provide community resource education.

On Friday, August 21st, we welcomed the incoming nursing students to SIUE! With so many excited future nurses, we split them into three groups and let them rotate through stations. Our amazing community partners, current students, faculty, and staff hosted a "meet and greet" in the student rec center through a BINGO game. Outside, we had ARCH3 land and explain the role of the flight nurse, Alton Memorial Ambulance came and showed the role of the pre-hospital nurse, and our very own WeCare Mobile Unit discussed how community health nursing can positively impact our communities. Finally, we had a mental health awareness station that helped students identify stress and anxiety in themselves and their peers, and it provided campus resources and in-the-moment techniques to help!

Overall, this group of incoming students seemed excited and engaged to start their journey here at SIUE. Thank you to all our partners!
