It was an absolute joy to celebrate the naming of the Anthony F. and Alice G. Agnone School of Education with Tony and Jaynee Agnone and so many family and friends. Their commitment reflects a deep belief in the transformative power of education and in the mission of Mount St. Mary’s University.  By investing in the preparation of future teachers, the Agnone family is helping to shape the lives of students who will go on to influence countless young people in classrooms across our region and beyond.
On a personal note, I want to express my deep gratitude to Jaynee and Tony for their friendship, their generosity, and their trust in the Mount.  Their support strengthens our ability to prepare outstanding educators and ensures that the mission of the School of Education will continue to flourish for generations to come.

We’re just one week away from Mount Mania, by far my favorite day of the entire year. It’s when we get to show the emotional heart of what it means to be part of Mount St. Mary’s, that deep sense of belonging and joy our community shares with future Mountaineers. And I get to have a little fun as a game show host! I can’t wait to meet the class of 2030

This is my favorite photo from Independent Higher Education Day in Annapolis. It captures the incredible heart our Mount community has for our university and other private institutions that benefit so many young people in Maryland. Thank you all for your support!

Mount students, along with Vice President Liz Monahan, political science professor Dr. William Christiansen, and I, recently took part in Independent Higher Education Day (IHED) in Annapolis, Maryland. IHED provides a wonderful opportunity for students and administrators to meet with Maryland legislators to express our gratitude for their continued support of the Sellinger Program and the Capital Budget Bill, which benefit all of Maryland’s independent colleges and universities. I was proud to see our students engage so thoughtfully in the legislative process and share the Mount story on behalf of our community. Thank you to all the Mount students who participated: Destiny Chikwe, Daniel Cortes, Nicholas Fanto, Parker Koenig, Alexia Mentzer, Melanie Pereira, and John Paul Wnek.

A very special visit today from students at Mother Seton Catholic School! They stopped by my office to share thank-you gifts as part of their Catholic Schools Week celebrations (snow-delayed but right on time). Smiles, great conversation, and a reminder of the joy these young students bring to our Emmitsburg community.
