Last month, faculty and PhD students from the Anatomy, Cell Biology & Physiology (ACBP) Research PhD program met with incoming 1st-year Indiana BioMedical Gateway (IBMG) PhD students to highlight the exciting, diverse research happening across our department! 🔬🧬

During their first year in the IBMG program, students rotate through labs of their choosing before selecting a specialized research focus and dissertation mentor for their second year and beyond. Events like this meet-and-greet give incoming research students a chance to connect directly with potential mentors, explore active labs, and ask the key questions that shape their graduate journey.

💀🦴 Who doesn't learn best with visual aids? The faculty in the ACBP department gives the ultimate skeletal study guide for those learning anatomy. Here, we have the classic 'beach vacationer', 'werewolf', and 'unicorn' models to help out in the final lab practical of this Human Structure course. Who says can't be scary and educational? 🐺🐈‍⬛

Instructed by Anatomy, Cell Biology & Physiology faculty and our Education Track PhD students, this 9-credit course is part of the MD Phase 1 curriculum through the IU School of Medicine.

Through weekly lab tours and immersive outreach, CAPE (Center for Anatomy and Physiology Education)—housed within the Department of Anatomy, Cell Biology & Physiology—is sparking curiosity and opening doors for future healthcare leaders and scientists.

High school students become anatomy interns through the Girls STEM Institute. Last year, more than 2,000 Indiana students participated in tours conducted by the Department of Anatomy, Cell Biology and Physiology at IU School of Medicine.

A big THANK YOU to the ACBP students, staff, and faculty who volunteered their time at Celebrate Science Indiana on Saturday October 10th at the Indiana State Fairgrounds to share their love for science and education with the community. This interactive STEM focused event is one of many outreach activities attended by Anatomy, Cell Biology & Physiology every year!
